The St. Louis Blues are on a roll. Joel Hofer stopped all 22 shots he faced as St. Louis blanked the Anaheim Ducks 4-0 at Honda Center on Sunday, extending their winning streak to a season-high four games. It was Hofer’s fifth shutout in his last 26 starts.
“He made some big saves to really keep us going and keep the momentum,” Blues forward Robert Thomas said. “Shutouts are always a great team effort.”
Jimmy Snuggerud contributed a goal and an assist, while Jonathan Drouin scored in his first game for the club after being acquired from the New York Islanders on Friday in a trade for Brayden Schenn. The win also saw the Blues sweep a road trip of at least four games for the first time since the 2023-24 season.
“It’s one of our most complete games of the year, that’s for sure,” coach Jim Montgomery said. “I think it’s been building ever since the break. We’ve been practising at a higher pace and we’ve been playing at a higher pace.”
After a scoreless first period, St. Louis erupted for three goals in the second. Jordan Kyrou opened the scoring on a 3-on-1 rush before Drouin doubled the lead on the power play with a one-timer from the right face-off circle. Snuggerud made it 3-0 shortly after with a snap-shot from the right circle. Pius Suter added an empty netter late in the third to seal the result.
Anaheim went 0-for-6 on the power play, generating just two shots with the man advantage.
“They pressured us before we got anything going,” Ducks coach Joel Quenneville said. “They cut off shots, they blocked a ton of shots. They did what they had to do to be successful.”
