Bayern Munich moved another step closer to a 34th Bundesliga title with a dominant 4-0 victory over Union Berlin at the Allianz Arena, extending their unbeaten run to 12 games.
Union put up stubborn resistance in the opening exchanges but offered little going forward, and Bayern’s pressure eventually told just before half-time. Michael Olise, who had been a constant threat down the right flank throughout the half, broke the deadlock by cutting inside onto his left foot and curling a precise finish into the far corner.
The hosts made it two in stoppage time when goalkeeper Frederik Ronnow came for a cross, missed his punch, and left Serge Gnabry to volley home at the near post. It was a devastating double blow for the visitors right on the stroke of half-time.
Bayern continued to dominate after the break and any hope of a Union comeback was extinguished shortly after the restart. Harry Kane collected Konrad Laimer’s pass with three defenders around him, turned sharply and found the bottom corner with a composed finish. Gnabry then added a fourth, beating Ronnow again at the near post with a powerful strike to wrap up a commanding win.
Bayern had already passed the 93 Bundesliga goal mark for the season before kick-off, and their relentless attack showed no signs of slowing down. The victory puts them 12 points clear of Borussia Dortmund and firmly on course to retain the title.
Union Berlin remain winless in 14 all-time Bundesliga meetings with Bayern and look set for a mid-table finish, sitting seven points from both the top seven and the bottom three.
