Arsenal turn to Bundesliga for defensive reinforcement

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger is reportedly looking at signing top emerging Bundesliga defender Abdou Diallo from Mainz 04.

The 21 years old joined the German league strugglers last summer, but he has impressed so greatly that several European sides are looking to sign him next month.

However, Arsenal appear in pole position with Wenger’s reputation for helping young French talents prosper an attracting proposition.

The Gunners have a thin defence, with Shkodran Mustafi and Laurent Koscielny the only top defender currently at the Emirates.

Rob Holding and Calum Chambers have failed to make an impression on Arsene Wenger this season, with both of them sharing just 5 premier League starts this season.

This is not the first time that Arsene Wenger would be looking to the German market to sign players.

He has signed Sead Kolasinac and Granit Xhaka over the past few seasons, and he seems to have trust in the quality of the league.

Diallo made a few appearances for AS Monaco last season, and reportedly attracted the attention of the Gunners’ scouts then, but he needed to play more games and prove himself, which is what he is currently enjoying in Germany.
