Arsenal has completed the sale of Lucas Torreira to Galatasaray for just £5.5m.
The diminutive midfielder was one of the club’s first signings in the post-Arsene Wenger era.
After doing very well at the FIFA 2018 World Cup, Unai Emery brought him to the Emirates.
He did well in the 2018/2019 campaign and endeared himself to the Arsenal fans.
However, he struggled to play in the next campaign and Mikel Arteta quickly made him surplus to requirements.
He spent the last two seasons away from the Emirates on loan at Atletico de Madrid and Fiorentina.
He did well for the latter, but they struggled to make his loan deal permanent.
With almost no club interested in signing him, the former Sampdoria man has agreed to leave and join Galatasaray, Matchplug understands.
The Turkish club is rebuilding its team and they have also signed Dries Mertens as a free agent in this window.
