30-year old Seattle Sounder player, Jordan Morris has become the official highest goal scorer of all time in club’s history.

His 77th minute goal against LAFC marked his 87th in his football career across all competitions.

It’s a special moment of Morris who worked all the way up from Sounders Academy to one of the best MLS players with his own shares in the club’s record books.

“Being a local guy here, growing up through the academy, being a fan of the team and sitting up in the stands as a fan, knowing I wanted to be on this field one day, now to put my name in the history books like that is a huge honor to be able to do it in front of my family,” Morris explained.

“I wanted to do it here at home, and to have a game like that is really special and a moment I’ll always remember.”

Wyatt Johnston signed a five-year deal with the Dallas Stars last Saturday for $42 million.

The 21-year-old forward has 60 points (24 goals, 36 assists) in 63 games this season, his third since being drafted 23rd overall by the Stars in 2021.

“It’s exciting to see the guys that are already here and the guys that are signed long-term here,” Johnston said after scoring in a 5-4 loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday. “It’s a really exciting group that I’m so happy and thankful to be a part of. It’s super exciting, just to see where things are at with the Stars. I love being here and it’s awesome.”

Last season, he recorded an NHL career-high 65 points (32 goals, 33 assists) in 82 games. Since Jan. 1, he ranks sixth in the NHL with 35 points (15 goals, 20 assists).

After scoring in Saturday’s 5-4 loss to the Oilers, he extended his point streak to nine games (nine goals, six assists). His 166 career points (80 goals, 86 assists) in 227 games are the most among players from the 2021 draft, and he has 22 points (14 goals, eight assists) in 22 Stanley Cup Playoff games.

“He’s a great young player in this League,” Dallas coach Pete DeBoer said. “What people don’t see behind the scenes is that he’s just a character kid. He’s a great pro, does it right every day, learned from the best in Joe Pavelski and he’s going to be a big-time player and leadership guy for this organization for a long time.”

Boston Bruins has made a lot of trade offs this season. They sent forward and captain Brad Marchand to the Florida Panthers, forward Charlie Coyle to the Colorado Avalanche, defenseman Brandon Carlo to the Toronto Maple Leafs, forward Justin Brazeau to the Minnesota Wild and forward Trent Frederic to the Edmonton Oilers.

The moves have been a lot for Pastrnak and many of his teammates to take in.

“It’s been very tough, emotional, and sad,” Pastrnak said. “Personally, I lost three very close friends and it’s a very tough pill to swallow. We not only lost big leaders on this team, but great human beings, guys with families that I was really close to and I’ve been here since Day 1 with them.”

“I know none of those guys wanted to leave,” Swayman said. “They wanted to see it through here and we had the ability to see it through with those guys, and that’s just the most devastating part. The human side of me was crushed.

“Even though it’s a business, it’s guys that you love. The connection that I had with ‘Marchy,’ Coyle, ‘Freddy,’ ‘Brando,’ ‘Braz’ … I love those guys and the fact that we can’t continue to play together and make memories and push through is devastating.”

Mathew Barzal return may not return to the Islanders before the regular season ends.

The 27-year-old forward has been sidelined due to a lower-body injury he took while blocking a shot late in an overtime win against the Lightning on Feb. 1. He had a medical procedure afterwards on Feb. 6 and is out indefinitely.

When asked when Barzal is expected to return, General manager Lou Lamoriello said, “We hope, but I couldn’t answer that,” “We’ll see where the rehab will take us. We’re not going to push it. We’re not going to rush it. We’re not going to chance anything. He will be 100 percent completely healthy if he is to return.”
