West Ham boss David Moyes is happy with the team’s draw against Tottenham.

Kurt Zouma canceled out Brennan Johnson’s early opener for the Spurs.

Moyes said, “Yeah I’d have taken [a point] before the game because Tottenham are a really good team.

“Everybody knows Tottenham’s style. We had to do some changes ourselves to try to eliminate that. We did a good job ourselves. Credit to the lads, they kept at it. We were a threat with a lot of good things we did.

“I genuinely thought we didn’t deserve to go behind tonight. But the players did a good job. We had a threat and so did they – they are a good side and that’s why they are challenging for the Champions League. Maybe a draw was the right result in the end.

“I’m sure after the way we played on the weekend, to see the way the defence played tonight, we looked much more organised… We had set-pieces, we had chances, so overall hopefully it will give us good confidence.”

Sporting CP coach Ruben Amorim has joked the club already has a replacement amid Liverpool move rumours.

Amorim is the favourite for the Reds after Xabi Alonso joined Bayer Leverkusen last week. 

Yesterday, the Sporting coach smiled:  “The only thing that bothers me is that they already have a replacement for me here… (laughter), that’s what made me feel the most impression, today I told Viana (Hugo, sporting director) to stay calm because it’s not exactly like that… it’s only this (game against Benfica) that I’ve paid attention to in recent days.”

On being compared with José Mourinho in England, Amorim said: “It has nothing to do with it, it makes no sense and I have no illusions about it.

“It’s about living this day by day and there is no comparison between José Mourinho and the Sporting coach.”

Chelsea is making a move for Athlético Paranaense goalkeeper Bento.

Inter Milan are also in talks to sign the Brazil international.

Matteo Moretto from Relevo is reporting Chelsea is now leading the hunt for Bento.

Bento has a buyout clause of €60m, however, per previous reports, the Brazilian outfit would sell him for €15m.

Bento’s contract with Paranaense extends to 2026.

Post-game, manager Eddie Howe said: “I felt at the start of the season he would come into the team and have an outstanding season. I thought it would be his breakthrough season because, during pre-season, he was outstanding.

“Unfortunately, we lost him through, again, another strange injury, but he’s back and he’s looked really good.

“As much as I can talk about his potential and what he can deliver, he needs to deliver it when the pressure is on, and he did on Saturday. I thought he was sensational when he came on.

“He is different. He’s got that mix of technical ability, a goal scorer’s mindset, he’ll deliver the last pass but he’s also tenacious and athletically he’s very good. Although he’s been out injured and he’s sort of early steps, he’s very good athletically, so I hope for really big things, just as long as he can stay fit.”
