N’Golo Kante CLOSE to Saudi Arabia move

Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante is reportedly being lined up for a move to Saudi Arabia after contract talks with the Blues broke down.

The World Cup-winning midfielder’s contract at Stamford Bridge will expire this summer, and Chelsea had opened discussions with him over an extension that will see him stay at least two extra years.

However, both sides have hit an impasse, and Kante is now being targeted by Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr in a deal that could see him become a team-mate of Cristiano Ronaldo.

This is according to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who claims that officials from the Middle East have travelled to England for talks with Kante.

According to Romano, Kante has an offer that could be worth as much as €100 million (£86m/$107m) when image rights and commercial deals are added.

But Al-Nassr, who currently have five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo on their books, aren’t the only Saudi Arabian team interested in signing Kante. Saudi Pro League title winners Al-Ittihad, who have just signed prolific Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema are also keen.

Tottenham confirm Ange Postecoglou as new manager

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as their new manager.

The North London club have been on the hunt for a new boss ever since Antonio Conte left the club in March. Conte’s assistant, Cristian Stellini and club coach Ryan Mason, had managed the club till the end of the season in the absence of a permanent manager.

Tottenham considered several managerial options, including the likes of former Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann, former Barcelona and Spain manager Luis Enrique and Feyenoord’s Arne Slot,

But they have now finally settled on Celtic boss Postecoglou, who has signed a four-year deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Australian enjoyed two impressive years at the helm of Celtic, with whom he won the treble last season after securing Premiership and League Cup glory in his first year in charge.

“Ange brings a positive mentality and a fast, attacking style of play,” said chairman Daniel Levy.

“He has a strong track record of developing players and an understanding of the importance of the link from the academy – everything that is important to our Club.

“We are excited to have Ange join us as we prepare for the season ahead.”

Postecoglou becomes the first Australian to manage in the Premier League. The 57-year-old has also spent time in Japan with Yokohama F. Marinos. He was also in charge of the Australian national team between 2013 and 2017, impressing at the 2014 World Cup and walking away after qualifying for the tournament in 2018.

Yet, they have enjoyed their most successful European season in recent years, going unbeaten throughout this European campaign (W13, D1). David Moyes’ men defeated AZ Alkmaar 3-1 on aggregate to book their place in this round, so they should be confident of winning the most important game of this Conference League campaign.

But, they cannot afford to carry their league form into this game as they won just two of their final seven league fixtures (L5). If they want to win here and lift a second-ever European title, they must keep their European form and improve on their previous performances against Italian sides.

Meanwhile, West Ham have scored an average of 2.25 goals per UECL game this season, while Fiorentina have scored an average of 2.57 goals. So we are expecting over 2.5 goals in this game in Prague.
