AC Milan legend Arrigo Sacchi: Rafael Leao needs to show greater consistency

AC Milan legend Arrigo Sacchi thinks Rafael Leao lacks support. Sacchi knows that when Milan struggles, it is Sacchi who gets the most scrutiny. Arrigo Sacchi wrote for La Gazzetta dello Sport: “We need to convince him, help him. Maybe with specific training sessions. “He is an important capital for the club, he earns a lot of money and must absolutely be valorised. Football requires that there be 11 players and that everyone must help each other. If someone doesn’t do it, it’s not good.” Sacchi explains his fluctuating performance this way: “It could be a mental thing, of motivation, of lack of ambition. I don’t know. What I know is that he could do more and with greater continuity. “In my Milan? I don’t know if it would be so available to the collective. Let’s ask ourselves whether he made the improvements that everyone expected or not.” Related Italian Serie A News: Juventus defender Fede Gatti pens new contract.

PSG defeat Milan to get back on track in Champions League

Kylian Mbappe, Randal Kolo Muani, and Lee Kang-in were all on target as PSG got back to winning in the Champions League with an excellent 3-0 win against AC Milan on Wednesday. Paris-Saint Germain were eager to break the spell of their 4-1 defeat on the road to Newcastle United three weeks ago and they brought too much attacking for Milan at the Parc des Princes. Mbappe opened the scoring lines with a deadly finish just after the half-hour mark for his 10th club goal this season, and Kolo Muani delivered another shortly after half-time. Lee Kang-in then came off the bench to score the third goal later on, which was his first for PSG. PSG made a massive comeback this season, showing a different side of themselves from the disorganized team that was saddled with forwards and overrun in midfield in the defeat by Newcastle. Starting their European campaign with a 2-0 home win against Borussia Dortmund, Paris-Saint Germain tops Group F at the halfway stage with six points ahead of a trip to Milan early next month.  AC Milan the seventh-time European champions are bottom of the group with two points and a huge concern for Stefano Pioli’s team will be that they need to score a goal in the competition this season.  This match witnessed French international brothers Lucas Hernandez, the PSG defender, and Theo, the Milan captain, face off against each other for the first time. It also saw PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and his Milan counterpart Mike Maignan come up against the clubs where they started their careers. However, the stars of this show were somewhere else, with Kylian Mbappe who was hugged by a pitch invader in the first half looking debatedly sharper than he has ever done at any point up to now this season for PSG. chelsea to contend manchester for joao neves

Chelsea to contend Manchester United in Joao Neves pursuit

According to reports by TEAMtalk, Manchester United will compete with Saudi Pro League clubs and Chelsea in the bid to sign talented Benfica midfielder Joao Neves in the coming months. Joao Neves has proven himself to be a key player for the Portuguese side, and he could establish himself as a solid long-term buy for Manchester. The Red Devils require more quality and control in the middle of the park, and Neves seems like the perfect purchase for them. Manchester United has been linked with a few central midfielders in recent months, and it will be interesting to see if they can secure Neves’ services at the end of the season. It is unlikely that Benfica will sanction his departure midway through the season, and the Devils will have to wait until the summer transfer window to sign him. Joao Neves replaced Enzo Fernandez at the heart of Benfica’s midfield after Fernandez joined Chelsea at the beginning of the year. Since then, he has significantly contributed to the growth of the team and proved himself a key player for the club. While he is just 19, Neves is good enough to start for Manchester United, and he has all the qualities to grow into a world-class midfielder in the coming seasons. Manchester midfielder, Erik Ten Hag has a proven track record in terms of nurturing talented young players and he could help Joao fulfil his tremendous potential too. The midfielder will not be a cheap acquisition. So, Manchester might have to pay a premium to sign him. Neves reportedly has a release clause of up to €120 million, and Benfica are likely to demand the full amount. Although Manchester United has the resources to pay that amount for him, the question of whether they are ready to shell out that type of fee for a largely unproven player still looms. Neves is yet to prove himself outside of Portugal and consistently. There is no argument that he could turn into a key player for the Red Devils and justify the investment in the long run. But, Manchester is in tough competition from Chelsea in the race to sign the teenage sensation. The Blues have been active in the transfer market over the last few months, and they have the resources to sign the best players in the world. It will be worth seeing if the Red Devils are ready to enter a bidding war with them at the end of the season. Related Primeira Liga News: Real Madrid interested in FC Porto’s Diogo Costa.

ajax chase arsenal assistant manager

Ajax chase Arsenal assistant manager after missing Manchester United coach

Ajax is hoping to hire Arsenal assistant manager Albert Stuivenberg as their new head coach, according to reports. The Dutch club is on the lookout for a new boss after firing Maurice Steijn on Monday following an awful run of form that had seen the team surprisingly slip into the Eredivisie relegation zone. They originally had their sight set on Erik ten Hag’s No.2 Mitchell van der Gaag, but he has no plans of leaving Manchester United. Van der Gaag was recommended to Ajax by former Manchester Manager Louis van Gaal who recently came back to the club in an advisory role. But after missing their shot with him, Van Gaal has quickly suggested that Stuivenberg who served as his assistant coach from 2014 to 2016 at Old Trafford be appointed. Per reports by Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad, via The Mirror, it is hoped that Albert Stuivenberg will create an attacking style of play and bring back the club’s former glory, with Ajax a whopping 22 points of league leaders PSV. The 53-year-old was also assistant manager for Wales under Ryan Giggs and Rob Page and was in the leading Belgian side Genk for a year. In 2019, he moved to the Gunners to assist the newly appointed Mikel Arteta and has been at his side since then. It is yet to be known if Stuivenberg would be interested in joining the Dutch side, but one certain thing is that Arteta wouldn’t want to lose a key member of his coaching staff, especially with their chances of winning the league being the best it’s been for many years. After running close to the Citizens last season, Arsenal have begun this campaign excellently, undefeated after nine matches and just two points behind leaders Tottenham. As Ajax continues their search, Steijn’s assistant Hedwiges Maduro will take charge of the club temporarily and they are reportedly also in talks with John van t’ Schip to become the head coach for the rest of the season. Ajax will swing back in action tonight when they travel to Brighton for a crucial Europa League clash. Meanwhile, fresh from their Champions League victory over Sevilla, Stuivenberg will be at Arterta’s side for the Gunners’ next match on Saturday at home to Sheffield United. Juventus defender Fede Gatti pens new contract

Juventus defender Fede Gatti has penned a new contract that’ll run to 2028. Juve announced today: “We are happy to announce that Fede Gatti has renewed the contract that binds him to Juventus, until June 30, 2028. “Fede, purchased in January 2022, joined the team the following summer and immediately managed to conquer everyone. His main characteristics are his dedication and humility: step by step, Federico Gatti has become a player who already now – after just over a year – is fundamental for the team on the pitch and the group off the pitch. “His desire to improve is continuous, just as his progress is continuous: just think of his latest tests on the pitch, crowned first with the goal in the Derby and then with a great match at San Siro. “And they are certainly not two cases: Gatti’s goals for Juventus are three, and since he played for Juventus, no Italian central defender from a team present in Serie A in the two seasons has scored more, considering all competitions. “As for defensive value, in the same period, no Juventus defender was dribbled past on average fewer times than him (0.26 per game, 9 dribbles conceded in 34 games). “So let’s enjoy the good news we started with Federico Gatti in Juventus until 2028!” Related Serie A News: Inter Milan Frattesi: ‘I can’t wait for Bellingham test’

Christian McCaffrey falls to oblique injury in 49ers’ loss to Browns

The San Francisco 49ers lost more than they did in their first game of the season on Sunday. San Francisco’s running back Christian McCaffrey left the team’s 19-17 upset loss to the Cleveland Browns in the second half with an oblique injury. McCaffrey’s injury happened in the third quarter, but he wasn’t ruled out of subsequent matches until early in the fourth quarter with San Francisco 17-13. His initial questionable designation came late in the third quarter with the 49ers trailing, 13-10, but the All-Pro quickly came back in the match. His return did not last long. Christian McCaffrey joined Deebo Samuel on the sidelines. The receiver was ruled out earlier in the game with a shoulder injury. Samuel played only eight snaps. Niners coach Kyle Shanahan said after the loss that the team did not yet know the severity of both player’s injuries. Samuel’s X-rays were negative, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapport reported Sunday, per a source. The receiver will get more tests on Monday. In 30 snaps, McCaffrey gathered 52 yards on 14 touches and San Francisco’s first score of the match, a 13-yard touchdown catch-and-run. With the touchdown, he tied the league record for most consecutive games with a scrimmage TD (15 games). Elijah Mitchell and Jordan Mason share carries for San Francisco (5-1) in McCaffrey’s absence, with the latter scoring a go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter. McCaffrey and Samuel will need a longer time than usual to heal up.  Similar NFL News: Raiders Jimmy Garoppolo taken to hospital for back injury suffered during win over Patriots.
