Liverpool would be looking to maintain their 6 points lead at the top of the Premier League table when they host Tottenham in this game. The Reds are looking to win their first league title in 30 years as well as add to the two trophies they have won this year. They had their lead at the top reduced by two points when they visited Manchester United on Sunday and they would be eager to get back to winning ways in this game. Liverpool hasn’t lost a league game in this calendar year and has won 8 of their 9 opening games this season. They also have a solid head to head record against Spurs having beaten them on the three occasions they met in all competitions last season. Liverpool has lost just one of their last 15 games against Mauricio Pochettino’s side. Spurs have endured a tough to their season but their fans would feel their 5-0 win over Red Star Belgrade in midweek would kickstart their season. They have traditionally struggled in this fixture and don’t have the form on their side ahead of this game. They have lost four of their last seven games in all competition and have not won any of their last 6 away games in all competitions.

Chelsea would be looking to win their 5th consecutive games when they host Newcastle in this game. The Blues connected 4 straight wins just before the International break and Frank Lampard would hope that they can add another one here. The Blues have been one of the most exciting teams to watch in the EPL this season and only Manchester City have created more chances than them in the competition so far. However, they have struggled at the other end and come into this game having kept just one clean sheet in their 12 competitive games in the season so far, so they would be keen to keep this struggling Magpies team at bay. Both teams have netted in nine of those 12 games and the Magpies would be feeling confident that they can cause another upset as they have done against Tottenham and Manchester United. Newcastle went into the International break after securing a shocking 1-0 win over Manchester United. Steve Bruce side are set to battle for relegation this season if their inconsistent form goes on, but they have shown that they can upset any team. Chelsea has won 4 and lost 1 of the last 5 head to head meetings between these sides and all of their last 6 h2h have ended in over 2.5 goals.

Barcelona would be looking to get over their early struggles so far this season and earn their second win in 4 attempts here. They welcome a Valencia side that beat them in the Copa Del Rey final just a few months ago and their fans would be hoping they can avenge that loss. Without the like of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, Barcelona has struggled this season despite having Antoine Griezmann leading their attack. They are currently 8th on the league table after picking up just one win and 4 points from their opening 3 league games. Valencia would also be looking to put their early struggles this season behind them when they visit the Nou Camp. They come here on the back of a 2-0 home win over Mallorca and would be looking to inflict more problems on the Catalans. Both of these teams would be in Champions League action in midweek and it would be interesting to see if their managers decide to make changes to their starting line up here.

Manchester City will have to continue chasing Liverpool after VAR forced them to drop points against Tottenham. The Cityzens have faired well after that game and come here after a 4-0 win over Brighton at the Etihad. Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne seem to be on an excellent run of form individually and that would be key for Guardiola in this title race. City have been scoring for fun as they have scored at least 3 times in 3 of their four league games this season and it would be tough for Norwich who doesn’t exactly have the best defence to stop them here. Norwich emphatically won the Championship last season, but they have found life back at the top flight a bit tougher.  They have been a good team going forward, but they seem too light in defence and this has caused them to concede all sorts of goals. Daniel Farke’s side has secured just one win and lost four games in all competitions this season. They have conceded at least twice in all but one of their games this season, and that has to change if they want to survive. Teemu Pukki has shown that he can bag the goals even in the top flight, but he would struggle to get even a sniff at goal in this game.

Brendan Rodgers would be taking his impressive Leicester City side to Old Trafford looking to cause an upset for the Red Devils. Manchester United have continued to flatter to deceive this season and they may struggle to get even a draw from this game against the Foxes. The Red Devils emphatically started their season as they beat Chelsea 4-0 at Old Trafford, however, another win has yet to come by and they lost their last home game 2-1 against Crystal Palace. They have also dropped points against Wolves and Southampton despite the latter playing the final minutes of that game with just 10 men. Leicester City is a team on the rise and they come here 3rd on the league table after winning 2 and picking up 2 draws in their opening 4 league games this season. They have won their last two league games and would be keen to get a 3rd consecutive victory here.

Liverpool would be looking to maintain their 100 percent start to the league season when they take on Newcastle in this game. Newcastle United have had a mixed start to the new season. Steve Bruce side lost their first two league games of the season but secured a shock 1-0 win over Tottenham at the 3rd time of asking. They have gone on to draw back-to-back games against Leicester City and Watford and their fans would feel they would need all the luck they can get just to stop Liverpool from embarrassing them. Liverpool beat Newcastle in both fixtures last season and the form of Jurgen Klopp’s men would suggest that the same can happen here.

Bournemouth would welcome Manchester City for this interesting week 3 fixture as they look to maintain their unbeaten start to the league season. The Cherries beat Aston Villa 2-1 away from home in their last league game to get level on points with their visitors. Eddie Howe has made some shrewd acquisitions in the market this summer, with Harry Wilson making an immediate impact by netting on his first start last weekend. Manchester City was on the end of a bad VAR decision last weekend as they drew 2-2 against Tottenham at the Etihad. The Cityzens would feel hard done by and consider this game a must-win to help them keep up with Liverpool. On their day, City are unplayable as they boast some of the best players in the world. Kevin De Bruyne looks like a player desperate to make up for a lost time and it feels like he would be key in this game. Manchester City has won all the last 4 games against the Cherries, but the games played at the Vitality Stadium are always a tight affair and City haven’t won by more than a goal in their last two visits.

Bayern Munich would be looking for the first win of the season at the second time of asking when they visit David Wagner’s Schalke 04. The Bavarians were held to a 2-2 draw at home by Hertha Berlin in their last league game and now have to play catch up to Borussia Dortmund who won their opening game 5-0. Bayern was in a similar position last season and even trailed Dortmund by up to 5 points and still won the league, so their fans won’t be overly worried but they need to get their first win of the season as soon as possible. Schalke 04 named Wagner as their manager over the summer and they would expect him to take them back into a European place by the end of this campaign. They began their campaign with a goalless draw against Borussia Monchengladbach that was their 3rd clean sheet in 4 games and they have conceded just one goal in that period, so it would be tough for Bayern to crack them here.

Juventus begin their Serie A title defence when they visit Parma in this season opener. The Old Ladies have experienced some changes over the summer with the likes of Maurizio Sarri and Matthijs de Ligt joining them. Juve seems to be looking to move away from the normal safety first approach most Italian teams adopt. With Sarri, they would play a more attacking based football with more emphasis on keeping hold of the ball and entertaining fans. Sarri was vindicated during his spell at Chelsea. Prior to joining the Blues, we had branded him a trophyless manager, but he left England after reaching the final of the Carabao Cup and winning the Europa League. At Juve, he has more support and has the luxury of playing some of the world’s best players and it would be interesting to see how they start their campaign. Parma would be looking to end this season in a better position than they did last season and a good start here would help boost their morale ahead of the other fixtures. They drew 3-3 against Juventus the last time both sides met in the league and a similar showing would be a major result for them.

Chelsea would be looking for the first competitive win under Frank Lampard when they visit Norwich in this game. Daniel Farke has got Norwich playing some of the best football in the Premier League and they showed what they are about with a 3-0 win over Newcastle in their last game. Teemu Pukki outscored everyone in the Championship last season and has 4 goals from two Premier League games already, he is one the Blues defence has to monitor. Chelsea is looking to rely on their young players this season and has also named a rookie manager in Lampard. The former Blues midfielder has implemented an exciting brand of football, but the results have yet to come. Chelsea do start their games fast and may also take the lead in this game, but it remains to be seen if their defence can keep things tight at the back for the entire 90 minutes.
