Mariners Trade Top Catching Prospect Ford to Nationals for Reliever Ferrer

The Seattle Mariners traded top catching prospect Harry Ford to the Nationals for left-handed reliever Jose Ferrer. Seattle also sent right-handed pitching prospect Isaac Lyon to Washington to complete the deal officially. Ferrer gives the Mariners a hard-throwing second southpaw reliever they have been actively seeking this offseason. Ford was Seattle’s first-round pick in the 2021 draft and ranked among baseball’s top prospects. The trade comes ahead of the Winter Meetings, with expectations of increased league-wide transaction activity. Seattle now faces questions about catching depth, with Cal Raleigh the lone catcher on roster.

Former Rangers Owner Tom Hicks Dies at 79

Former Texas Rangers owner Tom Hicks died on Saturday at age 79, the team confirmed. Hicks previously owned the Rangers and Dallas Stars during some of the most successful periods. The Rangers praised Hicks as a passionate, competitive owner and extended condolences to his family. Hicks owned the Rangers from 1998 to 2010, including division titles in his first two seasons. He hired executives Jon Daniels, Ron Washington, and Nolan Ryan, shaping future pennant-winning teams later. Under Hicks, the Rangers reached their first two World Series appearances in 2010 and 2011. In 2000, He approved Alex Rodriguez’s record-setting 10-year, $252 million contract with the Rangers at the time. He also oversaw major off-field developments, including Riders Field and the Surprise Recreation Complex projects. The former rangers owner also owned the Dallas Stars, who won the Stanley Cup in 1999 during his ownership tenure. He is survived by his wife Cinda and their six children, the family said Sunday.

Trade Buzz Building Around Nationals’ All-Star Lefty

Trade buzz is growing around Nationals left-hander MacKenzie Gore as teams seek starting pitching upgrades. Several pitchers headline the market, though Detroit ace Tarik Skubal would command the largest trade package. ESPN’s Buster Olney reported that some clubs definitely expect Gore to be traded this offseason. More than half the league has checked on Gore, while Washington continues listening to offers. However, the Nationals’ asking price for the 26-year-old All-Star remains understandably high this winter period. Gore earned his first All-Star nod in 2025, striking out 185 hitters across nearly 160 innings. Under club control for two seasons, Gore owns a 10.1 strikeouts-per-nine rate since 2023 began.

Blue Jays Outright Reliever Rodríguez to Minors

The Blue Jays outrighted reliever Yariel Rodríguez off their 40-man roster before the MLB Winter Meetings. Rodríguez cleared waivers unclaimed, keeping his MLB salary while remaining in the organization for now. The right-hander is no longer on the 40-man roster but can still be traded freely. If not traded, Rodríguez will attend Spring Training as a Minor League player with Toronto. The 28-year-old reliever is entering the third season of his five-year, $32 million contract deal. Signed with starter and bullpen potential, He moved full-time to relief in 2025 last season. He posted a 3.08 ERA, though underlying metrics were less encouraging overall throughout the year. Rodríguez struggled late, was left off the World Series roster, making the decision surprising for many.

MLB Prediction Today: Toronto Blue Jays vs Los Angeles Dodgers

Its another epic night of baseball as the Los Angeles Dodgers host the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 4 of the 2025 World Series on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. Read the preview for the Toronto Blue Jays vs Los Angeles Dodgers. After surviving an 18-inning thriller on Monday night, the Dodgers will look to take a commanding 3-1 series lead, while the Blue Jays aim to level the series and regain momentum. Read on for the full Toronto Blue Jays vs Los Angeles Dodgers prediction, with analysis, odds, and expert insights from MatchPlug, your trusted source for winning picks. Betting Preview for Toronto Blue Jays vs Los Angeles Dodgers Venue: Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, CA Date: Tuesday, October 28, 2025 Time: 8:05 PM ET Teams: Toronto Blue Jays vs Los Angeles Dodgers Odds provided by 1XBet Betting on Toronto Blue Jays The Toronto Blue Jays enter Game 4 facing a crucial turning point in this World Series. After pushing the Dodgers to 18 innings in Game 3, the Jays fell heartbreakingly short, losing 6–5 on Freddie Freeman’s walk-off homer in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Toronto’s lineup proved it can hang with the defending champions, tallying five runs and forcing the Dodgers’ bullpen into deep innings. Alejandro Kirk led the charge with three RBIs, while Bo Bichette and Andres Gimenez each contributed one. However, fatigue could become a significant factor. The Blue Jays’ bullpen was heavily taxed after using seven relievers across the marathon contest, leaving manager John Schneider with limited options in Game 4. Expect the Blue Jays to lean heavily on the top of their order and hope for early offense before LA’s pitching depth takes over. Betting on Los Angeles Dodgers The Los Angeles Dodgers have the momentum, the crowd, and arguably, the best player on the planet. After a grueling 18-inning battle, they now lead the series 2-1, with Shohei Ohtani set to return to the mound in Game 4. Ohtani was sensational in Game 3, going 3-for-4 with two home runs, a double, and three RBIs, adding to his growing World Series legend. With Ohtani back pitching, the Dodgers are expected to have the upper hand. In his last World Series start, he struck out 11 while allowing just one earned run over seven innings. His ability to both pitch deep and deliver clutch offense gives LA an unparalleled advantage. Moreover, the Dodgers have won 16 of their last 18 games overall, and six of their last seven at Dodger Stadium, reflecting their comfort under pressure and at home. Expect LA to rely on its depth and resilience again, two factors that have defined their championship run. MatchPlug Prediction for Toronto Blue Jays vs Los Angeles Dodgers Both teams emptied their bullpens in Monday’s 18-inning marathon, turning this Game 4 into a test of endurance and depth. The Dodgers, however, hold all the advantages, home-field momentum, rested confidence, and the brilliance of Shohei Ohtani. The Blue Jays have shown fight throughout the postseason, but they may struggle to match the Dodgers’ consistency and star power, especially after such a draining loss. If Ohtani maintains his elite form, the Dodgers could control this game from start to finish. Final Prediction: Los Angeles Dodgers Over/Under

Read our preview of the Cubs vs Rockies matchup. The game is scheduled for 8:40 PM ET and promises plenty of action as the Cubs look to extend their winning streak, while the Rockies try to snap out of their poor run of form. MatchPlug has the best preview featuring the analysis, odds, and insights. Betting Preview for Chicago Cubs vs Colorado Rockies Betting On Chicago Cubs The Cubs come into this matchup in strong form after an 11-7 win in the series opener, marking their fourth straight victory over the Rockies. Their offense finally came alive with 15 hits and 11 runs after a quiet series against the Giants. Currently sitting at 77-58, the Cubs lead the NL Wild Card race and remain just 6.5 games behind the Brewers in the division. On the mound, they will send Javier Assad (0-1, 3.86 ERA), who has allowed just one run in each of his last two starts and looks capable of silencing Colorado’s struggling bats. Betting On Colorado Rockies The Rockies continue to struggle, having lost four of their last five games and sitting just under the 40-win mark for the season. Their offense has been weak, averaging 3.2 runs per game on a .216 batting average over their last five. On the pitching side, Colorado has not fared much better with a season ERA of 6.00. They will send McCade Brown (0-1, 9.82 ERA) to the mound, who struggled badly in his first start, giving up four earned runs in just 3.2 innings against Pittsburgh. MatchPlug Prediction on Chicago Cubs vs Colorado Rockies The Cubs are heavy favorites for a reason. They are 8-2 in their last 10 games against Colorado and have swept their last five meetings. Their offense looks to have found rhythm again, while Assad has been reliable on the mound. The Rockies’ poor pitching and inconsistent hitting make this another uphill battle. Expect Chicago to control this contest from start to finish. Final Prediction: Cubs to win & -1.5 Runs

MLB Expert Picks: Detroit Tigers vs Kansas City Royals

It’s another thrilling MLB matchup as the Detroit Tigers take on the Kansas City Royals in their series opener at Kauffman Stadium on Sunday, August 31st, 2025. Read our preview of the Tigers vs Royals game. The game is scheduled for 7:10 PM ET and promises to be a key clash with playoff implications. The Tigers are looking to end their losing streak and protect their AL Central lead, while the Royals aim to stay alive in the wild card race. MatchPlug has the best preview featuring the analysis, odds, and insights on all soccer matches. Betting Preview for Detroit Tigers vs Kansas City Royals Betting On Detroit Tigers The Detroit Tigers remain on top of the AL Central despite their recent four-game losing streak, which included a sweep against the Athletics. At 78-57, they are still in pole position, but they must respond quickly to avoid slipping into a risky wild card battle. Detroit averages 4.9 runs per game this season, and while their offense is solid, their recent pitching slump has been an issue. Their team ERA has risen from 3.87 to 5.82 across the last five games. Starter Chris Paddack will be relied upon after holding the Royals to just one run over five innings in their last meeting. Betting On Kansas City Royals The Kansas City Royals enter this matchup as wild card hopefuls with a 69-65 record, three games behind Seattle in the race. They’ve recently seen an uptick in offense, averaging 5.3 runs per game over their last five outings, compared to their season average of 3.9 runs. Kansas City’s big concern is pitching. Ace Seth Logo is 3-2 with an 8.87 ERA across his last five starts, allowing an average of 4.6 earned runs. That shaky form leaves them vulnerable, particularly against a Detroit side with playoff motivation. Adding to the challenge, the Royals are 1-5 SU in their last six home games against Detroit. MatchPlug Prediction on Detroit Tigers vs Kansas City Royals Detroit may have dropped four straight, but their balanced lineup and superior pitching staff give them the upper hand. The Royals’ offense has improved, but with Seth Logo’s inconsistency on the mound, Kansas City faces an uphill battle. We expect the Tigers to bounce back strongly and take control of this series opener. Final Prediction: Detroit Tigers over/under

Matchplug’s the best site for all MLB picks, prediction and analysis. Betting Preview for Milwaukee Brewers vs Cincinnati Reds Venue: Great American Ball ParkDate: Saturday, August 16th, 2025Time: 7:15 PM ETTeams: Milwaukee Brewers vs Cincinnati RedsOdds as provided by 1XBet Betting on the Milwaukee Brewers 1XBet Spread:1XBet Moneyline: -1401XBet Over/Under: Over 9.5 The Brewers continue to prove they’re one of the best teams to back in MLB, winning 13 straight games and consistently covering run lines. Quinn Priester takes the mound with an 11-2 record and 3.49 ERA this season. Milwaukee has won by two or more runs in each of his last five starts. This gives them a reliable edge both on the mound and at the plate. Yelich has been the spark offensively, adding his 24th and 25th homers in Friday’s win. Betting on the Cincinnati Reds 1XBet Spread:1XBet Moneyline: +1201XBet Over/Under: Over 9.5 The Reds had a chance to snap Milwaukee’s streak on Friday, jumping out to an 8-0 lead by the third inning, but their bullpen collapsed. Their inability to close out games has haunted them, and against a red-hot Brewers lineup. They’ll need near-perfection from their starter and relievers to stay competitive. Match Plug Prediction for Milwaukee Brewers vs Cincinnati Reds With Quinn Priester on the mound and Milwaukee’s offense firing on all cylinders, it’s hard to fade the Brewers right now. They’re finding ways to win even when trailing big, which makes them one of MLB’s most dangerous and profitable teams at the moment. Final Prediction: Brewers ML.

Kansas City has the upper hand in this season series, leading 5-2 against the White Sox. Both teams are coming off Thursday’s rest, but they head into this matchup on very different paths. The Royals just took a series win in Washington, while Chicago has dropped eight of their last ten games. Matchplug’s the best site for all MLB picks, prediction and analysis. Betting Preview for Chicago White Sox vs Kansas City Royals Betting on the Chicago White Sox The White Sox continue to struggle offensively, scoring just two hits in their last game against Detroit. With nine strikeouts in that contest, their inconsistency at the plate is alarming. Aaron Civale, who owns a 4.91 ERA in 2025, will start. He was shelled by Cleveland in his last outing, giving up nine earned runs on eight hits. Betting on the Kansas City Royals The Royals will counter with Noah Cameron, who has been in strong form. Kansas City has won four of his last five starts, and he blanked the Twins across 5.2 innings in his most recent outing. Cameron has shown composure under pressure, stranding multiple baserunners without surrendering a run. Offensively, Kansas City continues to produce, with Witt Jr., Pasquantino, Frazier, and India all contributing hits in Wednesday’s 12-hit performance against Washington. Match Plug Prediction for Chicago White Sox vs Kansas City Royals The Royals are simply the hotter and more reliable team right now, while the White Sox are struggling both on the mound and at the plate. With Cameron in solid form and Kansas City’s offense clicking, this game should favor the Royals heavily. Final Prediction: Royals -1.5 Runs.
