Arsenal table €40 million bid for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

Arsenal have reportedly offered Italian side Lazio €40 million for the services of their star man Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

According to Calcio Mercato, the Gunners want to rejuvenate their midfield ahead of next season. They have identified the Serbian midfielder as one of the key additions ahead of the summer transfer window.

Milinkovic-Savic has been an influential figure in the Lazio midfield since joining from Genk in 2015. As such, the Rome-based club would love to keep him. But I Biancocelesti haven’t been able to reach an agreement with him and would rather sell him now than lose him for nothing when next year, when his contract at the club expires.

The 28-year-old has been one of Serie A’s best players over the years and is also attracting interest from Newcastle and West Ham.

Juventus vs Torino: Preview and Expert Football Prediction

Juventus and Torino will battle for three points this Tuesday when they meet at Allianz Stadium for the 156th edition of the Derby della Molle in Serie A.

Both teams are local rivals as they are both situated in the city of Turin. But Juventus are way ahead of their city rivals in achievement and history. Yet this season, they find themselves close to each other on the table, with Juventus sitting in eighth position, while Torino are sitting in ninth.

Despite having 15 points deducted from them, Juventus are still battling hard to qualify for a place in Europe next season. They come into this game on the back of a 3-0 midweek UEFA Europa League victory against Nantes. The win gave them a place in the next round of the Europa League.

Maximiliano Allegri’s men can reasonably be expected to win this against a Torino side they have beaten in 24 of the last 33 Serie A H2Hs (D8, L1). The visitors’ current form does not inspire confidence, too, as they come into this tie on the back of a disappointing 2-2 draw with winless Cremonese.

Winning away from home is also a problem that has plagued Torino for quite a while now, with just two victories from their last ten Serie A road trips (D3, L5). Those away games haven’t proved fruitful for points, but they have proved entertaining for the neutral, with Torino witnessing both teams score in a joint-league-high nine Serie A away games this term.

So the correct prediction for this game is BTTS/GG.

Naby Keita linked with Barcelona transfer

Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita has been linked with a move to Barcelona this summer when his contract at Anfield expires.

The Guinea midfielder has less than six months in his current deal at Liverpool and is unlikely to sign a new contract this summer.

And according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, his next destination could be Barcelona if he leaves Merseyside this summer.

“Barca are linked to all the possible free agents, but at the moment, nothing is concrete or advanced between Keita or any other club”, Romano said.

“He will decide in the next few months. Barca are exploring the free agents market, but nothing is “serious” yet.”

Keita joined Liverpool in 2018 with much fanfare after impressive showings in RB Leipzig. But form and fitness have been an issue for the Guinean international, who made only 84 Premier League appearances in that time.

Premier League trio interested in Lautaro Martinez

Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez.

According to TEAMtalk, the Argentina international is generating serious interest from a number of Premier League clubs, who are all set to battle for his signature this summer.

The 25-year-old Argentina international helped his country win the World Cup in Qatar last year. He’s been in red-hot form since returning and has scored 15 goals and provided seven assists in Serie A this season.

He’s considered one of Europe’s leading scorers, hence the fierce competition for his signature. Martinez is priced at £75 million and still has three years left on his current deal. Therefore, it will be hard for any club to price him off Inter’s hand as they are not keen to sell at the moment.

Lazio vs Sampdoria: Preview and Expert Football Prediction

Lazio will look to take maximum points this Monday when they welcome Sampdoria to Rome.

Fresh from progressing to the next round of the Conference League courtesy of a goalless draw with CFR Cluj, the hosts will be desperate for a win here to keep their quest for a top-four finish.

They have slightly fallen off the pace for the top four in recent weeks after winning just two of their last five league games (D2, L1). They are sitting in fifth place after 23 rounds and could return to the top four places with a win here.

Sampdoria may be the perfect opponent to face in pursuit of that feat, as they are unbeaten in home H2Hs since January 2005 (W13, D3). The six most recent meetings at the Stadio Olimpico have seen Lazio score 21 goals, so we can expect goals in this game.

Also, given that Sampdoria have conceded 38 goals, the best prediction for this game will be over 1.5 goals. Yet, we could witness over 2.5 goals considering the hosts are a free-falling side, having not won in their last eight competitive games (D2, L6).

They failed to score in six of those games, while the eleven goals they have scored this season are the fewest in Serie A and the fewest in Europe’s top five leagues.

But they are likely to be more comfortable on their travels, as they’ve collected eight of their 11 Serie A points this term away from home.

Villarreal vs Getafe: Preview and Expert Football Prediction

Villarreal will host relegation strugglers Getafe this Monday in the 23rd round of the 2022/23 La Liga season.

Villarreal are a team in terrible shape after recording four consecutive losses ahead of this game. The Yellow Submarines have been steadily declining in 2023 and were beaten 4-2 by Mallorca in their last outing.

The loss means they are the side currently with the division’s second-longest losing streak. But they will be hopeful of recording a win here, considering their impressive record against Getafe. Quique Setién’s men are unbeaten in their last eight games against Getafe (W6 D4), while they have lost just one of their last eleven games against teams that started this round 11th or lower.

Getafe are in good form, though, having not lost any of their last three games (W1, D2). Furthermore, they beat Valencia 1-0 in their last outing to end a run of seven games without a win (D2, L5). But the win wasn’t enough to take them out of the relegation zone as they are currently sitting in 19th place, two points behind 17th.

They will now hope to make it back-to-back La Liga wins for the first time in 17 games when they travel to Villarreal. But having lost their last three away head-to-head games by a 1-0 scoreline, we can expect another low-scoring affair with under 2.5 goals.

Tottenham vs Chelsea: Preview and Expert Football Prediction

Chelsea will travel to North London this Sunday to face London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

Both sides are currently struggling for form and results. But Spurs are at least enjoying better results and are ahead of the Blues by eleven points.

Their most recent 2-0 over West Ham, plus Newcastle United’s loss to Liverpool, moved them into fourth position in the table. With the Magpies not in PL action this weekend, they will be desperate to open up a four-point gap to the rest of the top four contestants.

However, this fixture always proves too difficult for them, with just seven wins out of 61 H2Hs in the PL era (D21, L33). Only Manchester United (39) have beaten them more times in the league. Chelsea have won nine of the last 12 H2Hs in all competitions between both sides (D2, L1).

Yet the Blues are struggling and have won once in their last eight PL outings (D4, L3). They have struggled to score goals, with their last ten games in all competitions seeing them score just four times.

But they have scored an average of two goals per game from their last three PL visits to Tottenham (W3), a record that may provide inspiration to end an ongoing seven-match winless run on the road in the Premier League.

Marseille vs PSG: Preview and Expert Football Prediction

Marseille and PSG will renew their rivalry this weekend when both sides meet at Stade Vélodrome on Sunday.

The hosts are the closest challengers of PSG for the title this season as they are starting this round five points away from their fiercest rivals. They come into this game in good form at the right time, with just one loss in 14 competitive matches (W12, D1).

So they will be well-motivated to win here and revive their quest for a Ligue 1 title. Having beaten PSG 2-1 at the Orange Vélodrome as recently as two weeks ago in the French Cup, they will fancy their chances here.

The visitors will be desperate to avenge that loss in the French Cup when they meet in Marseille. After three consecutive losses in all competitions for only the third time in the Qatari era, the Parisians bounced back with a breathtaking 4-3 home win against Lille in Ligue 1 last weekend, despite sustaining a 3-2 deficit until the 87th minute.

Yet, they come into this fixture on poor away league form, having lost three of their last four road trips in the league (W1). Each of these three losses came against teams sitting in the top five ahead of this round, so there is a sense that things will not go well for them here.

AC Milan vs Atalanta: Preview and Expert Football Prediction

AC Milan and Atalanta will battle for Serie A points this Sunday when both sides meet at the San Siro for the 24th round of the 2022/23 Serie A season.

Milan have failed to do well in their title defence, having already lost five league games this season (W13, D5). Three of those losses came in 2023 alone, leaving the San Siro side 21 points off league leaders Napoli.

But they are starting to build momentum again after overcoming a winless run at the start of the year that stretched seven competitive matches (D2, L5) and have now won each of their last three competitive games, with each accompanied by the same 1-0 scoreline.

However, a haul of just one point from their last four matches against sides in the top six at the start of this round hints that continuing that run won’t be easy for Stefano Pioli’s men.

Although Atalanta have had inconsistent results in 2023, they have maintained their quest for a top-four finish. Currently sitting in sixth position, they started this round in sixth place, three points behind their hosts, after an embarrassing loss at home to Lecce.

Despite this, Gian Piero Gasperini’s side have a proud record against the division’s best sides on the road, which could play a part in helping them revitalise their season here. Atalanta are undefeated in any Serie A away game against a side starting the round inside the top 12 (W5, D2), with their most recent being a 2-0 win away to Lazio, who separate Atalanta and Milan in the league table.

That said, we can expect both teams to score here.

Bayern Munich vs Union Berlin: Preview and Expert Football Prediction

It’s an unlikely top-of-the-table clash in the Bundesliga this weekend as Bayern Munich welcome the high-flying Union Berlin to Allianz Arena on Sunday.

The Bundesliga holders relinquished their grip on the top of the table after a series of poor results, including an embarrassing 3-2 loss to perennial enemies Borussia Mönchengladbach last time.

That result means that they have won just twice across their last six league matches since the winter break (D3, L1). Yet, that was just a second Bundesliga loss of the season for the hosts, who still finished matchday 21 top of the table on goal difference, and recently beat PSG 1-0 in the first leg of their Champions League round-of-16 tie.

But with Borussia Dortmund flying high, Bayern are in danger of dropping down if they fail to beat a Union Berlin side who are also in the title mix. The visitors are level on points, with Bayern having missed a crucial opportunity to go top courtesy of a goalless draw with Schalke 04 in their last league outing.

Yet, they are a team in solid form and come into this tie on the back of a huge 3-1 win over Ajax in the Europa League. The win made it nine games without defeat for the Iron Ones.

Yet, they must make history to win here, as they have never won in seven previous H2H meetings between the two sides (D3, L4).
