Villarreal’s La Liga match against Espanyol was postponed due to a heavy rain alert in Estadio de la Ceramica region.
Players were getting ready for the clash at the Villarreal stadium when they received the red alert for potential flooding. Just last year, flash floods in the Valencia region caused severe damage and claimed over 200 lives.
In a statement released by Villarreal, they stated that “the safety recommendations due to the risk of flooding”.
La Liga confirmed that a new date and time for the match would be announced as soon as possible.
