Once seen as the ideal Tennessee Titans franchise quarterback, Malik Willis is now leaving Nashville.
The Titans will trade Willis to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for a 2025 NFL Draft seventh-round pick.
With Will Levis confirmed as the Titans starter and Mason Rudolph, a free-agent signee this offseason now cemented as the No.2 in Tennessee, Willis will move on.
Currently, The Green Bay Packers’ Jordan Love is backed up by 2023 fifth-rounder Sean Clifford and 2024 seventh-rounder Michael Pratt. Neither of them shined in preseason and Willis will be a more experienced option.
Some people saw him as a potential first-rounder in a 2022 draft class that had no QB talent. He eventually fell to the third, where he was the third QB chosen overall. Willis, Kenny Pickett (first round, No. 20 overall), Desmond Ridder (No. 74) are on different teams now. Matt Corral and Sam Howell have moved on too. Brock Purdy, the last pick of that draft is now with the San Francisco 49ers.
Willis has played in 11 matches with three starts in two campaigns. All those starts were as a rookie when he went 1-2. He completed 53% of his 66 passes for 350 yards and has yet to throw an NFL touchdown pass. Willis has some fire in his legs, rushing for 144 yards (4.5 yards average) and a TD.
Still young, Malik moving to Green Bay will give him the chance to improve his game under Matt LaFleur. But for now, he should improve the Packers’ QB unit behind Love.
