Liverpool have wasted no time in replacing Philippe Coutinho who joined Barcelona last night.
The Reds have received £105 million of the £150 million transfer fee upfront and they are looking to spend some of that on Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez.
According to reports from BEIN Sport via Sun Sport, the Reds are ready to sign Mahrez for £48 million and he is set to have a medical later this afternoon.
The Algerian won the Premier League with Leicester City in the 2015/2016 season, being part a lethal duo of himself and Jamie Vardy that fired the Foxes to a historic and unexpected win.
He has been looking to leave the King Power Stadium since last summer, but only AS Roma who had just sold Mohammed Salah were interested in his signature.
However, the Italians could not meet Leicester’s asking price of £40 million and he remained with them.
He has recaptured some of his form that made him win the PFA Player of the year in 2016, as he has scored 8 times and provided 10 assists already this season.
Although the Foxes would be unwilling to allow their star man leave half way through the season, it would be hard for them to turn down a big money offer for a player they signed for less than £500,000.
