Mets’ Soto Spoils Guardians’ No-Hit Bid in Ninth

Cleveland Guardians right-hander Gavin Williams came within two outs of the 2025 season’s first no-hitter Wednesday before New York Mets star Juan Soto broke it up with a solo blast.

With one out in the ninth and the Mets down 4-0, Soto crushed a 97 mph fastball from Williams 420 feet to straightaway center. Statcast projected the homer Soto’s 26th of the season would have left 28 of 30 MLB ballparks.

Williams finished with a one-hit shutout in Cleveland’s 4-1 win.
