Manchester United agree £60m fee with Chelsea for Mason Mount

Manchester United have reached an agreement with Chelsea over the signing of midfielder Mason Mount.

The Red Devils have been in discussions with the Blues over the signature of Mount since the summer transfer window opened.

However, at some point, they were discouraged by Chelsea’s valuation of Mount and were said to be weighing their options. Chelsea were demanding £70 million for the 24-year-old, who has just one year in his contract at Stamford Bridge, with United unwilling to match their valuation.

But according to the latest reports, the two Premier League clubs have re-opened negotiations over the transfer, with a fee of £55m plus £5m in add-ons agreed upon.

The 24-year-old England international will undergo a medical next week before signing a five-year contract worth £250,000 a week with the option of another year.

Mount was one of Erik ten Hag’s main transfer targets this summer and was also considered by Liverpool. But his desire to play at Old Trafford played a key part in the transfer.

The Englishman has been at Chelsea since the age of six and scored 33 goals in 195 appearances for the club, winning the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.
