Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has decided that his team would be better off adding Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez than signing a new defender.
The Catalan boss has a limited budget this winter window and has to make a decision on which area of his team to strengthen.
Manchester City are without a dependable deputy defender after John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi, as the very unreliable Eliakim Mangala remains the only other fit option for them.
Thankfully, John Stones has returned from his injury and has slotted in well into the Cityzens matchday squad.
However, the Premier League leaders have lost an attacker in Gabriel Jesus and it appears Guardiola would love to cover for his absence this month.
According to Sun Sport, Guardiola has decided to end his search for a defender and sign Alexis Sanchez instead.
With under six months left on his contract, Arsenal are reportedly set to allow Alexis Sanchez leave this month, although that remains subject to them finding a replacement.
Sanchez is also keen to be reunited with Guardiola, and the Chilean has already agreed to join the Cityzens next season.
But a move to the Etihad this month would be ideal for all parties as the Chilean would potentially win the Premier League while Arsenal would earn almost the same amount they signed him from Barcelona.
