Ajax are reportedly set to terminate the loan deal of Liverpool midfielder James McConnell after a disappointing first half of the season.
The 21-year-old McConnell joined Ajax on a year-long loan deal last summer after former Liverpool assistant John Heitinga was appointed as Ajax’s manager. McConnell is said to have joined Ajax solely on Heitinga’s recommendation.
Ajax were looking to add an experienced defensive midfielder to the squad after captain Jordan Henderson had his contract at the Amsterdam club terminated by mutual consent.
