Miro Heiskanen might not be ready to return to the Dallas Stars at the start of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, coach Pete DeBoer said on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old defenseman has been sidelined since January 28 due to a left knee injury sustained in a collision with Vegas Golden Knights forward Mark Stone. Heiskanen underwent surgery on February 4, with a recovery timeline of 3-4 months. This season, he has recorded 25 points (five goals, 20 assists) in 50 games, averaging a team-leading 25:10 of ice time.
“That’s a realistic possibility,” DeBoer replied when asked if the Dallas Stars may have to advance to the Western Conference Second Round before Heiskanen could return.
