Michel agrees PSV too powerful for Girona after Martinez red

Girona boss Michel was upset after a red card was issued to captain Arnau Martinez. His club also failing by a 4-0 scoreline to PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League on Tuesday also didn’t help matters.  Ryan Flamingo and Malik Tillman scored for PSV before Martinez got a second booking 10 minutes after booking. This left Girona defenceless.  The home team scored two more goals thanks to Johan Bakayoko and Ladislav Krejci’s own goal.  “The first half of both teams was very good in terms of the pace of play, looking for the opponent’s goal,” Michel told reporters after the match. “The expulsion was decisive. From there, PSV had chances and deserved to win. In this competition, the small details make a difference.” Daley Blind, a former player at Ajax, agreed that Girona were second best but reiterated the coach’s opinion that the red card was decisive.  “The first chance was for us, but we conceded a goal from a throw-in, which cannot happen,” Blind said. “After that, we tried to play. It was an open game. We had a lot of movement when we had possession, but overall PSV had the upper hand. “We missed a few players through injury. It’s a difficult situation. But I don’t want to give that as an excuse. We need to do it with the players we have. “We fought hard. We came out of the dressing room with good spirit. But after the red card, the game was over.”

guardiola says city will recover from sporting cp beating

Guardiola says City will recover from Sporting CP beating: ‘I love it’

Pep Guardiola responded to Manchester City’s defeat in the Champions League. Sporting CP defeated City by a 4-1 scoreline in Lisbon in the group stages on Tuesday. That was their third consecutive defeat in all contests, which has shocked the four-time Premier League champions.  “It is a tough challenge, but I am here. It will be a tough season – we knew that from the start. But this is what it is. I like it, I love it, I want to face it and lift my players and try it,” Guardiola stated post-game. “Life is like this. Maybe in the past six Premier Leagues in seven years and four in a row is an exception. Sometimes you lose. “Today we were really good – Bournemouth, no, they deserve it. We played really bad against Bournemouth and played really good today. “I know how we behave today, how good we were, and how a young central defender (Jahmai Simpson-Pusey), what an exceptional game he played. “When you lose 4-1 what can I say? My team I like it, we were close to making it 0-3. “The stadium was calm but in one action we lose simple things with quality players and things that normally don’t happen. When you are so close to going 0-2 and then 1-3, it’s difficult for the players, I understand it. “I have to try and find an explanation. Sometimes it is just football. “We have to accept it. Life is that, sport is that. Everyone has to be better and better and better and we will find it “We are alive in all competitions, and we will continue.  “We are coming back to Manchester to prepare the game against Brighton. I am not giving up. Maybe people are waiting but I am not giving up.”

Benfica legend afraid to lose Carreras to Manchester United

Former Benfica defender Alvaro Magalhaes has some worries about losing Alvaro Fernandez Carreras, a key player for the club. The Primeira Liga side signed Carreras from Manchester United permanently during the summer transfer window.  Considering his noteworthy performance in local games, Magalhaes believes that Manchester boos Ruben Amorim will trigger a buy-back clause to get Carreras back to Old Trafford in January.  Magalhaes, while speaking to A Bola, said: “I only fear that Ruben Amorim will take him to Manchester United. “It seems to me that he has the quality to be one of the first options and looking at the squad I believe that with the new coaching staff he could be a possibility again, especially because the new coach knows him very well from what he saw of him at Benfica.” “The decision is not just in the club’s hands,” Magalhaes said.

Inter Miami boss Martino end rumours about a Neymar reunion

Inter Miami coach Tata Martino cannot promise that Al Hilal player Neymar will join his club. Although Neymar just bought property in Miami, his former Barca coach has played down the possibility of a reunion.  Martino said: “The thing is that we are throwing names around for the sake of it. You can’t talk so easily and freely about footballers who might or might not come. I think that when we talk about this, we need another kind of support. “We can’t talk and mention a player just because he bought a house or because he started dating a girl from Fort Lauderdale. It would be nonsense. First, we have to analyze what the league offers and if this is really possible. Based on that, today this is impossible, so there is no more continuity in the conversation.” The Argentine also said: “If all those who buy a house are going to come and play for Inter, we are in trouble, so they should close the real estate agency.” (He joked). I arrived at Barcelona at the same time as Ney, it was a good year and for me being able to manage players of such high standing will be a special memory, but nothing more than that.”
