Juventus prepare £4.5 million a season offer to tempt Liverpool star

Italian champions Juventus have increased their effort to prise away Emre Can from Liverpool after this season. The German midfielder has under seven months left on his current Liverpool deal, and talks of extending it has stalled since last month. Liverpool are keen for Can to remain at Anfield, but since they opened talks of renewing his deal at the beginning of last season, little progress has been made, and the German appears to be on his way out. Several top European sides would like to have Can in their midfield, but Juventus appear to be keener to offer the midfielder a new home. The Italians have a depleted midfield and Max Alegri believes Can can helped them solve their midfield problem. According to MailSport, the Old Ladies of Turin have prepared an offer of £4.5 million for Can should he move to Turin. This offer would make Can one of the top earners in Juve, with only Paolo Dybala, Miralem Pjanic, and Gonzalo Higuain earning more. Can’s has repeatedly claimed that his decision not to sign a new deal with Liverpool is beyond money, but insiders believe it to be the German’s desire to have a realistic release clause attached to his new deal.

Manager of Liverpool target admits he can leave next month as other teams prepare to rival the Reds

Liverpool’s bid to sign Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk has received a major boost after Mauricio Pellegrino’s latest admission. The Saint’s manager admitted that he had no control over the transfer market that opens next month, even though he has his own opinion on the sale of players. Van Dijk has attracted the interest of some of Europe’s top sides following his impressive display last season, however Liverpool are his preferred club and the Reds did try to sign him last summer. Liverpool had prepared to offer the Saints up to £50 million for the Dutch, but their illegal tapping of the defender angered the Saints who blocked his move. Liverpool subsequently tendered a public apology which was accepted by Southampton and it appears the Reds are free to move for him again. The centre back was dropped for Southampton’s last game against Chelsea, making many people to believe that Pellegrino was already preparing for life without his best defender. However, the former Liverpool defender claims he was only being rested because of the festive season fixture congestion. Van Dijk is still interested in leaving, but his new six years deal his signed just last season, means Southampton have the upper hand in whether he moves or not. Liverpool face competition with Chelsea and Manchester City for the defender’s signature.

Arsenal will enter new contract talks with resurgent midfielder next month

Following his return to full fitness this season, Arsenal are set to offer Jack Wilshere a new deal when the transfer window reopens next month. Wilshere has seen his Gunners career take a hit following a series of high profile and long term injuries over the past few seasons, and almost left the club last summer. The midfielder was shipped out on loan to Bournemouth last season, but he failed to impress and his loan spell was ended by an injury which kept him out of pre-season. However, he has successfully fought back and has gone through the first half of this season with no injuries so far. This has caught the attention of Arsene Wenger who insist the England international is an “Arsenal man.” The Gunners are facing a mass exodus of players next summer, but Wenger does not want Wilshere to join that group. According to him, he wanted to see how long Wilshere would last without getting injured before talking about a new deal. With Mesut Ozil likely taking a walk at the end of his current deal next summer, if Wilshere stays fit the Gunners may build their midfield around him.

Barcelona eye shock move for Manchester United man as replacement for former Premier League star

Barcelona’s manager Ernesto Valverde is eyeing a shock move for Manchester United utility player, Daley Blind. The Catalans are bracing themselves for the departure of Javier Mascherano who wants to leave in search of more playing time. Blind who joined the Red Devils in the summer of 2014 has fallen down the perking order since Jose Mourinho became manager last season, and his current deal which expires next summer is unlikely going to be renewed. Blind’s versatility is said to have impressed the Barcelona’s board and their manager who believe he can fill the void left by Mascherano when the Argentine finally leaves. Real Soceidad’s Inigo Martinez and Stefan de Vrij of Lazio are also interesting the Catalans, but Blind’s potential status as a free agent next season makes him more appealing. De Vrij is also into the final seven months of his current deal with Lazio but he is more than happy at the Italian capital and has repeatedly talked about only looking forward to signing a new deal at the Stadio Olimpico. Martinez is Valverde’s first choice, but with the club likely to spend heavily on Philippe Coutinho next summer, they may not be able to bankroll a move for the Spaniard.

Vincent Kompany could not complete the Manchester Derby, while John Stones has been out injured leaving Nicholas Otamendi and the previously unwanted Eliakim Mangala as the only defensive options Guardiola has, and he wants to address that shortage. According to Sportsmail, Southampton Virgil van Dijk and Inigo Martinez of Real Sociedad are his major targets. Guardiola reiterated his desire to sign  a new centre back next month and confirm he has told the club of that desire. He admitted that with the number of competition they are still involved in, they obviously need to get more defenders else they would be in “big trouble.” Martinez’s release clause is set at £29 million, while Van Dijk could cost up to £50 million.
