Southampton vs Tottenham: Preview and Expert Football Prediction

Tottenham will take their fight for a top-four finish to Saint Mary’s Stadium this Saturday, where they will face a struggling Southampton side. The Saints remain rooted at the bottom of the Premier League table but are fighting hard to ensure they escape the drop. Despite scoring just two goals, they have scrapped hard to collect seven points from their five Premier League fixtures under interim manager Rubén Sellés. Read more: Borussia Dortmund vs FC Koln: Preview and Expert Football Prediction But their increasingly desperate bid to get off the bottom of the table will face some stern tests in the next month when they host top-four clubs Tottenham and Manchester City. However, some positive upsets, such as their 1-0 triumph at Chelsea on Sellés’ PL debut, could be key to saving the team from relegation. But delving deeper into their miserable campaign suggests it’s not likely to happen consistently. In fact, against the nine clubs ranked above Chelsea going into this round, Southampton lamented a winless D2, L9 PL record, conceding 3+ goals on six occasions, including a 4-1 loss away to Tottenham in the opening round. Meanwhile, Tottenham strengthened their grip on fourth position with a 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest last time out. The win was their fourth consecutive win at home in the Premier League. However, embarrassing losses to both Wolves (1-0) and Leicester City (4-1) in their last two PL trips has shown that when travelling to clubs with survival as their sole focus, they have the potential to be overwhelmed.  But given that they have won four of their last six meetings with Southampton, they will fancy their chances of ending their four consecutive losses away from home here. Meanwhile, two of the last 30 PL matches involving either club ended in a draw. So we can expect a direct win in this game. Click here to get direct win predictions.

Liverpool enter race to sign Julián Brandt

Premier League giants Liverpool have reportedly entered the race to sign Borussia Dortmund’s in-form midfielder Julian Brandt. According to reports in the 90min, the Reds want the German international who has been in red-hot form this season. Brendt has scored nine goals and five assists across all competitions and has been vital for Dortmund’s good run of results.  Read more: Inter confirm Lukaku will return to Chelsea this summer This is not the first time the Reds will be interested in Brandt. They were interested in the 26-year-old when he was still at Bayer Leverkusen before he joined Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2019.  Jurgen Klopp’s side are looking to reinvent their forward line after a poor season and would like Brandt to be part of their new-look attack. But they are not alone in their pursuit of the player. They will have to compete with Arsenal, Manchester City and Newcastle for the 26-year-old. Meanwhile, Dortmund continue to make efforts to extend his deal at Signal Iduna Park, meaning that it will take a decent sum to prise him away from the German side.

Crystal Palace sack Patrick Vieira after terrible run of results

Crystal Palace have sacked their manager Patrick Vieira after a poor run of results that has seen the Eagles sit just three points off the relegation zone. Palace started the season brightly under the former Arsenal captain and were at the top half of the table briefly. But a run of 12 games without a win has left them staring down the barrel of relegation, leading to the sack of their manager. Read more: Sergio Ramos attracting interest from the MLS The south London club released a statement on the club website confirming the sack. “It is with enormous regret that this difficult decision has been made,” Palace chairman Steve Parish said in a statement.  “Ultimately, results in recent months have placed us in a precarious league position, and we felt a change is necessary to give us the best chance of retaining Premier League status. Patrick has given his all to the club, and we all thank him and his team for their service.” The Selhurst Park club also confirmed that Vieira’s coaching staff of Osian Roberts, Kristian Wilson and Said Aigoun had also left the club, claiming that “the process to appoint a new manager is underway.”  Vieira spent less than two years in charge at Selhurst Park when he took over from Roy Hodgson in 2021. Palace’s next game is away at league leaders Arsenal on Sunday

Atalanta vs Empoli: Preview and Expert Football Prediction

Atalanta’s quest for a top-four finish in the Italian Serie A will continue this Friday when they welcome Empoli to Bergamo. The hosts are fighting to return to continental football next season after an eight-place finish kept them off a place in any of the UEFA competitions.  But it’s been a poor recent run for Atalanta who, following Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Napoli, are now winless in four successive Serie A outings (D1, L3). As a result, La Dea have fallen out of the top four and they now face a huge challenge to try to get back into those positions. Read more: Real Betis vs Manchester United: Preview and Expert Football Prediction They finished the last round six points adrift with their tally of 42 points after 26 games their lowest in four years. Their main issue has been a lack of goals, as they’ve managed just one across their last four league matches.  Empoli have shut them out in three of their last four H2Hs at this venue (W1, D2, L1), though it should be noted that Gian Piero Gasperini’s men have netted at least once in all of their nine matches against teams starting this round 14th or below, thus not enthusing them about their arrival. The hope for Atalanta is that the visitors will visit Gewiss Stadium in pretty rotten form, with no league win in seven outings (D3, L4). Their main issue have been defending set-pieces this season, as there’s only one side that has conceded more Serie A goals from set-pieces (nine) than Empoli. At the other end of the pitch, there are only three teams who have scored fewer league goals (23) than Empoli. So, improving in both boxes will be crucial if the Blues are to have any chance of beating one of the sides featuring in the top ten ahead of the round for only the third time this season (D4, L8). Nottingham Forest vs Newcastle United: Preview and Expert Football Prediction

Top four hopefuls Newcastle United will travel to City Ground this Friday to face Nottingham Forest in their 28th Round game of the 2022/23 Premier League season. Forest are fighting for their lives in the Premier League, with their goal for the season still to secure a place in the top flight. Having moved away from the bottom three of the Premier League table with a series of positive results just before and after the World Cup break, Forest’s early season problems have resurfaced. Steve Cooper’s side come into this fixture without a win in five games (D2, L3). Their most recent outing was a 3-1 loss to Tottenham, meaning that they are now just two points above the relegation zone as they fight to avoid an immediate return to the Championship.  Read more: Arsenal vs Sporting Lisbon: Preview and Expert Football Prediction But the Tricky Trees have a decent record at home with the bulk of their poor form coming on the road. They are currently on an impressive nine-game unbeaten run at the City Ground (W4, D5), helping them to collect 20 of their 26 points this season on home soil. Eddie Howe’s Newcastle will look to make it two league wins in a row for the first time since November when they travel to City Ground on Friday. The Magpies ended a run of five games without a win across all competitions (D2, L3) when they secured a late 2-1 win over Wolves last time out. That result rekindled their hopes of qualifying for a UEFA competition for the first time since 2006/07, as they are now just four points behind fourth-placed Spurs.  Ahead of their visit to London, they will be confident of a positive result, given that they are unbeaten against Forest in the top flight since 1988 (W6, D4). However, they need to find their goal-scoring touch in order to record a positive result here and finish in a Champions League place, as they have netted just once in their last four PL away fixtures (D3, L1). Inter confirm Lukaku will return to Chelsea this summer

Inter Milan do not intend to keep Romelu Lukaku at the San Siro beyond this summer, their CEO Giuseppe Marotta, has confirmed. The Belgian joined Inter on loan last year from Chelsea after failing to deliver following his £97m transfer from the Italian club in 2021.  Lukaku helped Inter win the Scudetto in 2021 under Antonio Conte with his goals and assists, one of the major reasons the San Siro side won the title. But things have not worked out well for him since he rejoined Milan. He has struggled for form and fitness, and will now be sent back to Stamford Bridge this summer. He has missed 12 games in Serie A alone this season through injury.  Read more: Chelsea to let go of multiple stars in the summer as they look to raise £264m Overall, the Belgian has scored only three goals in the league, and two in the Champions League. “The loan was for one season so on June 30 regardless of how well he plays. He’ll go back to Chelsea,” Inter CEO told Sky Italia.  “This has been an unprecedented season. I’m referring of course to the World Cup. The problems we’ve experienced have been experienced by other clubs too, and the players who played at the World Cup. “Lukaku is a case in point. [Marcelo] Brozovic isn’t the Brozovic we know. Lukaku hasn’t found the fitness he needs to play his best football.  “He’s still not at his best or the player we got to see in years gone by.” After leaving Chelsea acrimoniously, when he granted an interview professing his love for Inter despite being a Chelsea player, it remains to be seen whether fans will welcome Lukaku back at Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal vs Sporting Lisbon: Preview and Expert Football Prediction

Arsenal will look to book their place in the next stage of the Europa League this Thursday when they take on Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon in the second leg of their Europa League knock-out tie. The hosts come into this game after an impressive 3-0 win over Fulham in the Premier League. The result maintained the Gunners’ five points lead at the top of the Premier League table and extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to six games (W5, D1). After securing a 2-2 draw in the first leg of this tie, Mikel Arteta’s side have it all to play for now at the Emirates. The fact that they are at home in this second leg will give them a big boost, given that the Gunners have seven wins from nine home games against Portuguese clubs in European competition (D1, L1). Read more: Napoli vs Eintracht Frankfurt: Preview and Expert Football Prediction. Mikel Arteta’s side have also won five of their last seven UEFA ties in which they drew the away leg first, so they will be confident of winning here. However, the hosts have yet to concede a home UEL goal this term (W3), so Sporting will have a mountain to climb to bridge that defence on Thursday night. But the Portuguese side have goals aplenty in them. They followed up their 2-2 draw with Arsenal last Thursday with a brilliant 3-0 win over Boavista in the Portuguese league. The win extended their scoring run in all competitions to ten games and was the sixth time in the last ten games they have scored 2+ goals in a game. The Lions are also unbeaten in all competitions in their last seven games (W5, D2) and so will be confident of a good result at the Emirates. Moreover, they have progressed from their previous six ties against English sides in the knock-out stages of UEFA’s second-tier club competition. Still, they are winless in their last nine away games against English opposition in major European competitions (D4, L5). So the signs point to an Arsenal win here and an over 2.5 goals game in favour of the Gunners.

Real Betis vs Manchester United: Preview and Expert Football Prediction

Manchester United will look to complete the job they started at Old Trafford last week when they face Real Betis in the second leg of the 2022/23 Europa League season. Both teams met in the first leg of this tie last week, with United securing a 4-1 win. So the hosts have a mountain to climb to overcome a three-goal deficit against one of Europe’s most in-form teams. However, Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini has refused to give in, with the Chilean saying, “I don’t think a knock-out game is ever over” ahead of a first competitive meeting of the sides on Spanish soil. Pellegrini has good reason to believe that, given he’s lost just one of seven home meetings against United throughout his career (W4, D2), with that record including a 4-1 win over the Red Devils whilst in charge of Manchester City in 2013.  Read more: Arsenal vs Sporting Lisbon: Preview and Expert Football Prediction But continuing that trend will require Los Verdiblancos to rediscover their home form, with Betis having won just one of their last seven games at Estadio Benito Villamarín, including three losses from their last five matches. Manchester United have one leg in the next round after that dominant first-leg win. Yet the Red Devils cannot take anything for granted at this tournament stage. The visitors have already avoided defeat on two UEL trips to Spain this term (W1, D1), and a third successful visit will secure their safe passage into the quarter-finals as their three-pronged trophy hunt continues. Erik ten Hag’s men won all three of their European road trips in the group stage, although a return of just two wins from six away games in 2023 (D2, L2) suggests United can be vulnerable away from Old Trafford. But they will be confident of seeing this through, having lost just once in their last 14 competitive games (W10, D3). Click here to get the correct score prediction for this game and others.

He is attracting interest from several clubs, but the strongest interest is coming from an MLS club. However, according to the report by SPORT,  Ramos’ recent performances in Paris Saint-Germain could help convince PSG to give him an extension that will see him renew beyond the summer.
