Crystal Palace adds Chris Richards to their squad

Patrick Vieira is overseeing an exciting time at Crystal Palace as he continues to sign very young players for the Eagles. They have been signing some very fine youngsters since last season and that has continued in this summer’s transfer window. Chris Richards is the latest young player to join their ranks after they signed him from Bayern Munich, Matchplug reveals. The 22-year-old plays for the USA national team as well and spent the last campaign on loan at Hoffenheim. He had been very hopeful that he will build a career for himself at Bayern, but that is a tough task and they just added Matthijs de Ligt to their squad. He would now look to achieve that objective in the Premier League with Palace. They have a very young and exciting squad which makes them one of the best clubs to watch. The Eagles achieved some huge results last season and will look to replicate that in this campaign.

Ten Hag wants more attacking signings at Manchester United

Manchester United manager, Erik Ten Hag has urged the club to add new attackers to his squad. The Dutchman has just become their latest manager as they attempt to bring the glory days back to Old Trafford. He has overseen a largely successful preseason, but his team is still without Cristiano Ronaldo who has asked them to sell him. Their attack has a lot of talents including Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho. But the former Ajax manager wants more players on his team. The Dutchman said, as quoted by Matchplug: ‘I think it’s vital if you want to get success, the season is really long.  ‘That is a reason, but also the number of games. You need more options in offence. But we also have still time to fill that in.’ United have beaten Liverpool in this preseason and their overall performance has been impressive which has made their fans to dream about having a great season. They will hope the players take this new energy into the campaign and do well when competitive games kicks off.

Ben Mee agrees to join Brentford

Brentford has completed the free signing of Ben Mee on a two-year deal as the defender ends his long association with Burnley, Matchplug understands. Mee has been one of the Premier League’s reliable defenders over the years, but he was powerless to stop Burnley from being relegated at the end of last season. The Clarets released him at the end of the campaign alongside several first team players who were out of contract at the club. The defender was attracting the attention of several clubs around the country and he has now decided to move to Brentford. The Bees did well in their first season back at the Premier League. However, they have not seriously altered their squad in this transfer window. Mee is just their fourth signing of the transfer window as Thomas Frank keeps faith with most of the players that helped his team in the last campaign.

Barcelona wants to hijack Chelsea bid for Kounde

Barcelona is making a late attempt to persuade Jules Kounde into joining them instead of moving to Chelsea. The Frenchman is close to becoming the next defender to move to Chelsea after the Blues struck a £55m agreement with Sevilla for his signature. The Frenchman has been one of their long-term targets and he will join Kalidou Koulibaly as a new defender at Stamford Bridge in the coming days. However, Matchplug understands that Barcelona wants him and they are now attempting to persuade the France International to join them instead of Chelsea. Barca has been struggling financially, but they have just raised more funds by selling some of the club’s assets and they will reinvest it in their playing squad. The report says they are now prepared to make a similar bid to Chelsea. If that happens, the defender will have to choose when he wants to play next.
