Trevor Lawrence

Trevor Lawrence praises Travis Hunter as “one of the hardest-working guys” on Jaguars

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is already impressed with rookie Travis Hunter, praising his work ethic and commitment just months into his NFL journey. “Travis has been great — just his work ethic, how he’s come in,” Lawrence said last week during the American Century Championship golf tournament, via WJXT’s Jamal St. Cyr.“He’s been one of the hardest-working guys we have. I think it’s commitment to learning the playbook and trying to learn the two systems. It’s a lot on a rookie, it’s challenging to learn everything and he’s done a nice job.” Hunter, known for his rare two-way talent as a cornerback and wide receiver, is trying to do what hasn’t been done in modern NFL history — play both sides of the ball consistently. Lawrence acknowledged the task is difficult but remains optimistic about Hunter’s potential. “We still have work to do and we’re going to get a lot done in training camp and get us ready to play come September. I’m really excited for him and how he can help our team.” Skeptics remain, including Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, who recently pointed out how opponents will try to wear Hunter down. The demands of playing both offense and defense at the pro level, combined with the looming “rookie wall,” will test Hunter’s stamina and durability. Still, for now, the Jaguars appear all in on his versatility  and Lawrence is clearly a believer.

Xavier Worthy expects more deep plays in Chiefs offense: “Get your hamstrings ready”

Rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy believes the Kansas City Chiefs are ready to bring back the deep shots that once defined their offense. During an appearance on FanDuel TV’s “Up and Adams”, Xavier Worthy shared what head coach Andy Reid told the team early in OTAs:“Coach Reid told us during OTAs Phase 1, ‘When you come back, get your hamstrings ready,’” Worthy said.“So, we kind of knew that we were going to be going a little deep during practice. We kind of got our bodies and our minds ready for what we’re going to be doing in practice.” Kansas City has won consistently in recent years but faced criticism for a less explosive offense. Since their 2019 Super Bowl win, they’ve remained a top team, reaching the Super Bowl five times in six seasons, but without the same highlight-reel plays that once defined them. Worthy, a first-round pick who ran a record-breaking 4.21-second 40-yard dash at the 2024 NFL Combine, could be the spark Reid and Patrick Mahomes need to stretch the field again.

Sony and the NFL have unveiled a brand-new set of NFL Coach’s Headsets, developed from the ground up to meet the exact needs of NFL sidelines. These advanced communication tools will be used league-wide starting in the 2025 season, signaling a major leap forward in on-field technology. Inspired by the engineering excellence behind Sony’s 1000X headphone series, the new headsets are built for the chaos of NFL game days — focusing on clarity, durability, comfort, and noise cancellation. “Sony continues to stay ahead of the curve, evolving technology that meets the intense demands of today’s game,” said Troy Vincent Sr., NFL EVP of Football Operations. “Coaches and players at the highest level count on reliable and dependable communication, and this headset is another example of integrating game day excellence with football innovation.” Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur praised the headset after testing it: “Communication to my staff and players is everything. This headset took all factors of the game into consideration.” Sony tested the headsets in real stadium noise environments exceeding 100 decibels, using the same noise-canceling expertise found in their WH-1000XM6 headphones. Each unit includes a custom microphone that isolates the coach’s voice even in extreme crowd noise. “While this headset is built for the field, it’s backed by decades of audio innovation at Sony,” said Neal Manowitz, President and COO of Sony Electronics Inc. “It’s a powerful example of how our expertise translates into real-world solutions for the modern game.” Other features include: The rollout will see all 32 teams using Sony’s headset system for the 2025 season, marking a key milestone in the NFL’s push for innovation and communication excellence.

Free-agent RB/KR Nyheim Hines ready to return after two-year injury absence

After two years away from football due to a serious knee injury suffered in a jet ski accident in July 2023, Nyheim Hines is fully healthy and ready for a comeback. Now a free agent, the former Colts and Bills running back and return specialist is searching for a team where he can restart his career. “I’m far from done, and the story is in my hand,” Hines told The Charlotte Observer.  “I put myself in this position, but as athletes, we’re in an unfortunate situation in a job … that we can’t control everything, but the pen is always in our hand, based on our performance. So, I’m looking forward to the opportunity to grab that pen and write whatever story I want.” Hines was originally a fourth-round pick by the Indianapolis Colts in 2018. He played a versatile role as a rotational running back and kick returner, becoming a key special teams contributor. Maresca Confirms Noni Madueke Set for Arsenal Switch in £52M Deal

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has confirmed that winger Noni Madueke is on the verge of completing a move to Arsenal. A £52 million deal was agreed between the London rivals. The 23-year-old has left Chelsea’s Club World Cup squad ahead of their final against PSG. He left to undergo a medical in London, with official confirmation of the transfer expected within hours. Speaking in a pre-match press conference, Maresca was candid about the situation: “Noni is in contact with the new club,” Maresca said. “I guess he is going to be (announced) in the next hours.”“I said in one of the last press conferences, if players want to leave then it is difficult for the club and the manager. Noni decided to leave, nobody told Noni he had to leave. If he is happy, we are happy.” Madueke, who joined Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023, struggled to cement a consistent starting spot under various managers, despite showing flashes of his potential. His move to Arsenal makes him the latest player to cross the London divide. He will bolster Mikel Arteta’s attacking options, particularly on the right wing.  The deal adds to Arsenal’s proactive summer window, with other targets such as Eberechi Eze, Rodrygo, and Cristhian Mosquera also on the radar.

Athletic Club’s Yeray Alvarez Suspended Over ‘Involuntary’ Doping

Athletic Club defender Yeray Alvarez has been provisionally suspended after testing positive for a banned substance. The test followed the club’s Europa League semi-final match against Manchester United on May 1st. The 30-year-old centre-back said the substance was taken “involuntarily” through medication used to treat hair loss. Alvarez has been using the medication since recovering from testicular cancer. “After overcoming my illness, I have been taking a treatment against alopecia for years,” he said.“After studying the issue, we have found out that the positive test came because I involuntarily took a preventative medicine against hair loss which contained a prohibited substance.” Alvarez was first diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2016. He returned to play in 2017, but suffered a recurrence later that year and made a second comeback in 2018. He added: “The disciplinary proceedings are currently in an investigatory phase and confidential, so I am provisionally suspended and I am not authorised to make further public comment.” Alvarez featured in the second leg against Manchester United and also played two more La Liga games before the season ended. He said he received notice of the positive test result “a few weeks ago”. “I could not believe it, given that never in my life have I taken prohibited substances,” said Alvarez. Athletic Club said in a statement that they “lament the human error of Yeray” and pledged to support the defender during this time. The club added that they could not make further comments. UEFA has not yet responded to requests for comment.
