However, the Seagulls are aware of the player’s desire to move on at the end of this season and will be forced to lower their wages. Apart from Mac Allister, Liverpool also retains a keen interest in the 24-year-old’s midfield partner at the Amex Stadium, Moises Caicedo. But the Reds fear Brighton’s asking price for the Ecuadorian will prove prohibitive, with the Seagulls rejecting an offer of £70m ($88m) from Arsenal for the 21-year-old in January.

‘I’m as good as Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp & Mikel Arteta’: Sam Allardyce

New Leeds manager Sam Allardyce has stated that he is ‘as good as’ Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta as he prepares to try and steer his side away from relegation. The veteran manager will replace Javi Gracia for Leeds’ final four games of the season against Man City, West Ham United, Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur, with the Yorkshire side still in control of their Premier League destiny. Leeds United is sitting 17th in the Premier League table, with just a one-point cushion over 19th-placed Everton. This leaves them with little room for error over the next four games. Read more: Cristiano Ronaldo wants to RETURN to Europe this summer Although Allardyce acknowledged the seriousness of the task, he remained adamant that he has the managerial skills to get the job done. “I might be 68 and look old and antiquated, but nobody is ahead of me in football terms. Not Pep, not Klopp, not Arteta,” he said. “It’s all there with me. They do what they do, and I do what I do. “In terms of knowledge, I am not saying I’m better than them, but I’m certainly as good as they are.” The former West Ham and West Brom boss also admitted that the time left in the season gives him little time to implement his methods. Still, he vowed to give his all to protect Leeds’ legacy. “It was a shock because this time of the season, there are many managers who had changed hands, the most in the history of the Premier League. I thought it was all over for this season,” he said. “It was only a couple of minutes before I said yes. Because of the situation, I had to rush through the process quickly so I could be here for at least a reasonable lead into Manchester City. “I’ve had a lot of responses from many people saying congratulations. A few said I must be mad, but I enjoy the game so much. “To try and save this club and keep it in the Premier League is a big responsibility but one I want to take because of who Leeds are.”

Renato Sanches

Liverpool eye move for PSG star

Liverpool are reportedly considering moving for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Renato Sanches next season. The Reds are in the market for a dynamic midfielder, having seen their midfield area in the field suffer degradation. They have long wanted to sign Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund but recently had to give up the chase for the Englishman due to his price tag. But that hasn’t stopped them from looking to sign a midfielder as they attempt to rebuild in the summer. They hope to bring in at least two midfield players this summer and see Renato Sanches as a solid option. Read more: Premier League Clubs Alerted over Paulo Dybala Availability This is according to Fichajes, who claims that Jurgen Klopp is an admirer of the Portuguese international and wants to bring him to the club.  As per the report, the player will likely cost Liverpool around €30 million, a fraction of what they were asked to pay for Bellingham. Sanches is a smooth operator in midfield and will bring the kind of energy and guile often missing in Liverpool since Georgina Wijnaldum left the club two seasons ago. The 25-year-old joined PSG last summer but has failed to nail down a spot in the starting XI due to a lack of fitness and form. So he would be willing to leave Parc des Princes if he is guaranteed more game time at Anfield and the right offer is tabled.

I think he’s normally come in [and] had a January transfer window.  “He can bring his own players in and have that time to change it. But I think it’s probably a decent appointment. Whether the crowd will get behind that, I’m not so sure.  “I don’t know how Leeds supporters would react to Allardyce.
