The Cincinnati Bengals dropped their third game in a row Sunday, falling 37-24 to the Detroit Lions, as backup QB Jake Browning struggled with turnovers in place of the injured Joe Burrow.
Browning threw three interceptions, giving him eight in four games this season, and admitted afterward that he cost his team.
“A lot of people in that locker room played winning football today,” Browning said. “I did not. You throw three picks in the NFL, you’re going to lose.”
While Browning also delivered three second-half touchdown passes, the damage was already done. The boos from the home crowd grew louder each time he returned to the field.
With Joe Burrow sidelined indefinitely following toe surgery, Cincinnati has chosen to stick with Browning over veteran reinforcements, leaving him under pressure to improve quickly.
