Strasbourg are in all kinds of trouble at the wrong time and they would have wanted to avoid playing AS Monaco at the moment. They were beaten by Caen 2-0 in their last match making it 3 losses in 4 matches. They are now just 3 points off the relegation zone with just 10 league games left.
Strasbourg have been the most impressive of the three teams that were promoted to the Ligue 1 last season and they were the first team to beat PSG this season, but they do not look like a team that can get a result in this game at the moment.
Monaco, on the other hand, are on a good run of form and they head into this game with no losses in their last 7 games. Their 2-1 win against Bordeaux at the weekend means they are now 4 points ahead of Marseille. Their remaining fixtures look good for Monaco and they should finish inside the top two. However, their poor run earlier in the season shows that they could be very vulnerable at the back too.
Monaco have won 10 and drawn 3 of their last 16 meetings with Strasbourg.
Mainz 05 are getting better and they have begun getting some good results as they look to survive relegation. After winning 0-2 at Berlin, they have drawn their last two games against Wolfsburg and Hamburg to take themselves 7 points clear of the automatic relegation spot – but they are still in a relegation playoff spot. Prior to their last 3 games, they lost 3 consecutive matches and they would be careful not to fall to a defeat here again.
Schalke got their 4th win of the year against a very stubborn Hertha Berlin side last weekend to boost their chances of making it to next season’s Champions League. Add that to equally impressive wins against Hoffenheim and Bayer Leverkusen earlier in the year and you would feel they have what it takes to take all three points here. Guido Burgstaller – their top scorer, could miss this game, but they have enough options to fill that void. They have just one win in their last 3 visits here, losing the rest.
PSG have begun their search for a new manager after they lost confidence in Unai Emery.
The French league leaders spent big last summer with the signing of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe their headline moves as they hoped to win the Champions League this season.
However, they lost to Real Madrid in the round of 16 on Tuesday and Unai Emery is set to leave after this season.
PSG have been tracking a number of managers since the start of this season with Emery’s contract set to expire at the end of this season. They have made contact with former Barcelona manager, Luis Enrique and Jose Mourinho.
But Enrique is keen on a move to the Premier League while Jose Mourinho has extended his contract with the Red Devils, ending speculations about his future with the Europa League holders.
Daily Mail is claiming the French Ligue 1 leaders have now turned their attention to embattled Antonio Conte and they believe he would be an easier target to get.
Conte is struggling at Stamford Bridge and he is openly unhappy at the Premier League holders. With the Blues outside the top four, he is expected to leave at the end of the season.
Liverpool’s summer plan to bring RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner to the Premier League has been dealt a major blow after the German chose their northeast rival, Manchester United.
The Reds have been tracking Werner since last season, but a deal has not been forthcoming with Liverpool only succeeding only in signing his teammate, Naby Keita.
However, after he rejected a new deal at the German side, his suitors have become hopeful of signing him again, but he seems to have a choice of the team he would like to play for.
According to Sun Sport, Werner admitted that he has dreams of playing in England at some point even though he is currently happy in Germany with Leipzig. Per the reports, Werner claimed he has been following the EPL and specifically two teams – Liverpool and Manchester United.
He claimed he loves Manchester United because of their history and Liverpool because of their passionate fans and stadium atmosphere.
He, however, concluded by saying if he wanted to move to the EPL now, he would choose the Red Devils.
Borussia Dortmund have experienced tough times this season and their early season poor form robbed them of the chance of winning the Bundesliga. However, since the appointment of Peter Stoeger, they have not lost a game in 12 attempts and their 1-1 draw with RB Leipzig the last time out makes it 6 wins and 6 draws from those games. They won their first knockout stage match against Atalanta at home before drawing the second leg 1-1 in Italy to set up this tie. Marco Reus has been very influential since returning from a long-term injury and he could be the difference here again.
Salzburg would be looking to exploit Dortmund’s defensive weaknesses that has seen them concede in all but four of their last 23 matches in all competitions, while they have scored 12 goals in their last 3 games. They defeated Real Sociedad in the last round by 4-3 to set up this match and they would be looking to carry on that goal-scoring threat to this game. They have 13 goals from their 15 away games, conceding 10 in the Process.
This is the first meeting between these two sides.
Arsenal’s woes are set to continue as they head to Milan for the Round of 32 Europa League match to face AC Milan. The Gunners have had a tough time recently and they head into this game on the back of four consecutive losses and 5 losses from their last 6 games. With Pressure mounting on Arsene Wenger, his players would do well to win this competition and secure passage into the Champions League for next season. They lost 4-0 to Milan the last time they visited the San Siro and that could well be the case here again. The Gunners have a poor record away from home this season as they have won just 29% of their away games in the league.
Milan have hit top form recently after slumping and falling down to the bottom half of the table. Genaro Gattuso has turned their fortune around and they head into this match unbeaten in their last 13 in all competitions. They defeated Lazio in the Coppa Italia semifinal last week to set up and grandstand finale with Juventus. They have five wins from their last six matches and they did not play a game this weekend so they would be fresh for the visit of the Gunners.

Manchester City have become the latest team to show an interest in signing Fulham’s youngster, Ryan Sessegnon as the 17 years old continues to shine in the Championship.
Sessegnon broke unto the scene as a 16 years old last season and had plenty admirers, but Fulham were able to convince him that remaining with them was the best option for his career and he signed a professional deal with them. He has gone on to show this season that he is not a one-season wonder and has already reached double figures for goals.
His form has attracted the interest of Tottenham, Manchester United, Liverpool and Real Madrid, but Sun Sport is claiming that Manchester City have become the latest team to show interest in his signature and they hope to steal him from under the noses of their rivals.
He is set to cost his potential new employers at least £40 million, and Fulham do not need to sell. But if they fail to gain promotion to the Premier League at the end of this season, it would be difficult to convince Sessegnon to remain with them.
