Arsenal set to go back for Argentina’s World Cup star after failing with summer approach

Arsenal have not given up on signing Sevilla’s Ever Banega despite failing in their efforts to sign him last summer.

Banega worked with Unai Emery at Valencia and joined the Spaniard when he was named the manager of Sevilla where they won repeated Europa League titles together.

The 30 years old was approached by the Gunners in the summer, but he decided to remain with the Spanish giants, however, the Gunners remain keen on reuniting him with Emery.

Emery has started the season brightly after securing 3 wins from 5 games and also helping the Gunners to climb up the league table to 7th position.

The Gunners start the Europa League campaign this week and they would be hoping that Emery’s winning plans with Sevilla would help them win the competition as well and qualify for the Champions League without needing to finish inside the Premier League top four.

Banega’s current release clause stands at 18 million pound, a fee that shouldn’t be too much for the Gunners to pay.
