Despite not naming a replacement for Arsene Wenger yet, Arsenal are going ahead with their plans to add new stars to their team ahead of next season, and they might make Nice Midfielder Jean Michel Seri the first arrival at the Emirates in the post-Wenger era.
The Gunners have reportedly opened talks with the Ivory Coast international through their new Head of Football Operations Raul Sanllehi, who tried to sign the midfielder for Barcelona last summer. Sanllehi is said to have spearheaded Barcelona’s bid for the former Asec Mimosa man and was left disappointed when the Catalans refused to up their initial £35million that was rejected by Nice.
Seri is said to have a release clause of £35million that would kick in within the next couple of weeks, and the Gunners are looking to be the first team that triggers that clause ahead of his other suitors.
Seri is one of the most scouted Ligue 1 players this season, with Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea also looking to bring him to the Premier League. He is also prepared to leave the French side, and he would reportedly demand that they sell him when he meets with the club in the next couple of weeks.
