Jose Mourinho has set his sight on signing some new midfielders next summer as the Red Devils face a mass exodus of their midfield players.
Marouane Fellaini, and Ander Herrera are looking to change clubs while Michael Carrick is retiring at the end of the season. These departures would leave Mourinho with a very thin midfield and the Portuguese boss wants to do something about that.
According to Sun Sport, Mourinho is prepared to pay £52.5million for Bayern Munich’s midfielder, Arturo Vidal.
Vidal is a target of many Premier League teams and he is likely going to leave the Bavarians at the end of the season, as the Germans have already completed the capture of Leon Goretzka whom they expected to start playing immediately.
Vidal is only one of a few midfielders that are attracting the attention of Jose Mourinho, with Fabiano of Monaco and Fred of Shakhtar Donetsk firmly in his sight also.
Despite being 30 years of age already, Vidal who joined Bayern for £32million in the summer of 2015 would not be allowed to leave on a cheap, but Mourinho is prepared to pay as much as they want to get his man.
This game is the biggest fixture of the weekend in the Championship as two teams with Premier League ambitions meet each other. Wolves should have been under pressure to deliver here, but with over 10 points separating them from 3rd placed Fulham, they would feel they can lose here and be forgiven.
Middlesbrough are the team under pressure as they are 6th on the league table but have just 1 point more than Bristol City and two teams could leapfrog them by Monday if they fail to get the maximum points here.
Boro have taken 14 points from their last 6 games and they are gradually becoming a team that can get promotion back to the Premier League even if it is through the playoffs. They are strong at home and come into this game with 4 wins from their last 4 games.
Wolves have been struggling away from home recently and their 4-1 hammering at Aston Villa just before the break shows they are a side that can be caught with Fulham also earning a deserved home win against them recently. They have won just 3 of their last 9 away games and they would be looking to get a win here also.
Cardiff City manager, Neil Warnock was understandably enraged when his side’s game against Derby County just before the international break was postponed. That postponement leaves them with a fixture pile-up and some tough games to come also, however, this match should not be one of those tough games with Burton currently fighting for survival.
Cardiff have won their last seven league games on the bounce and this game looks a certain victory if they can just keep doing what they have been doing recently. They play some really tough games after this one, however, with 7 points between them and the chasing pack, together with the game they have in hand, they can lose 3 games and still remain second on the league table.
Burton are fighting to remain in the Championship beyond this season, and they have a habit of picking some valuable points away from home, however, this doesn’t look like a game they can spring surprises.
The Brewers have collected just one point and scored the same number of goals in their last 5 league games. They have also lost 3 of their last 4 league games by a margin of 2 or more goals.
