Lionel Messi’s international career could be over if the Argentinian national team fail to shine in next year’s world cup in Russia.
Messi retired from international football last year after their Copa America final loss to Chile, but made a U-turn on his decision.
However, according to the man himself, if they fail to impress in next summer’s world cup in Russia he could say his final good bye to national team selection.
According to Tyc sports, Messi thinks himself and some other star players of the Argentine national team should leave the scene if next summer’s world Cup ends disastrously for them again.
Whether Messi retires next summer or not however his team mate Javier Mascherano would definitely be leaving the international scene after the football show piece, and the Barcelona man could also leave the Catalans after been overlooked a number of times this season.
Speaking about his compatriot, Messi said he has had a discussion with the defender about his future, but he would not disclose what they discussed. He however claims he would understand if Mascherano leaves Barcelona.
Argentina would face off with Nigeria, Iceland, and Croatia in group D of the world cup next year.
