Teammate shocks Chelsea players on the morning of FA Cup final

Andreas Christensen reportedly shocked his Chelsea teammates on the morning of their FA Cup final game against Liverpool by telling his manager, Thomas  Tuchel that he couldn’t play the game. The departing Danish defender, who has agreed to play for Barcelona from next season, would probably have started the match ahead of Trevor Chaloboah if he was available. However, The Daily Mail Claims he told his manager on the morning of the fixture that he would not be available to play, but he it wasn’t because of an injury. The report claims his teammates were shocked when he checked out of the team’s hotel that morning and it remains unclear what had happened to him. In his absence, the Blues played a good game as they held Liverpool to a goalless draw after extra-time before the Reds beat them on penalties. They have now lost their last three FA Cup finals and their defeat means Liverpool can potentially end this campaign by winning the quadruple.

Newcastle vs Arsenal Match Preview

Arsenal needs to beat Newcastle United to return to a place in the top four after Tottenham beat Burnley at the weekend. The Gunners could easily have secured a return to the Champions League with a draw in this game if they didn’t lose their last match to Tottenham. The Lilywhites have now cut down on their points lead and even a win for Arsenal in this match will be just enough to keep them ahead of Spurs until their final game of the season. Newcastle United have recovered from a very bad start under Steve Bruce to survive relegation. That they are now safe enough not to think about the drop means Eddie Howe deserves a lot of credit. His team is well equipped to do even better next season and perhaps qualify for a European competition. But they will want to end this season well and that might involve throwing spanner into Arsenal’s European dreams. Newcastle has lost their last two Premier League games, but they were against Liverpool and Manchester City, so this game might not be that tough. Arsenal will have to enter this match prepared to suffer to get their desired result because the Magpies will not make things easy for them.

Predictions for Liverpool vs. Real Madrid

Real Madrid has had an extraordinary run to the Champions League final, and it may well be written in the stars that they could win this one too. The Los Blancos were outplayed for extended periods by PSG, Chelsea, and most recently, Manchester City, yet still managed to sail through in all three games. They’ll be underdogs in the final, and eliminating French giants would see them receive a backlash from the loyal Parisiens, with the finals set to be held in Paris. You may look at it in another way too. Karim Benzema is French, and the country could unite to cheer for their son. Liverpool’s journey Liverpool breezed through the group stages, winning all six games, but there have been some setbacks since then. The Reds were defeated by Inter Milan at home and only drew with Benfica at Anfield, but they had done enough in the away legs to advance. Jurgen Klopp’s team qualified for the final after a 2-0 win against Villarreal on Merseyside, but they had to withstand a rare scare in Spain. Boulaye Dia and Francis Coquelin drew the game level before halftime, but Liverpool responded with Fabinho, Luis Diaz, and Sadio Mane goals in the second half. Mohamed Salah has already stated his desire to avenge a 3-1 defeat in the 2018 Champions League final, but Carlo Ancelotti’s men will not take that lightly. Counter-attacks may expose them at the back, as that is an area the Spaniards seem to have perfected. Real Madrid’s journey Real have faced several challenges during their season, not least an early setback at the Bernabeu to Moldovan minnows Sheriff. They did, however, win five other group games, including two clean-sheet wins over Inter. The Whites lost 1-0 away to PSG in the round of 16 and fell on home soil until a Karim Benzema hat-trick turned things around. Benzema scored another treble in a 3-1 quarter-final victory over Chelsea, although the Blues had a 3-0 lead in Spain. On 80 minutes, Rodrygo leveled the aggregate score, and Benzema sealed the matter in extra time. Manchester City, who won 4-3 at Etihad Stadium and led 1-0 in the 90th minute in Madrid, added to the drama. Rodrygo’s remarkable double forced extra time, and who better than Benzema to score a penalty to finish off another spectacular comeback? Benzema already has 15 goals in the tournament, seven more than Salah of Liverpool, and the veteran striker is expected to score the game’s last goal at Stade de France. Vinicius Junior, whose speed would definitely bother Trent Alexander-Arnold, might potentially cause chaos, as he did when Real upset Liverpool 3-1 in the quarter-finals last season. Liverpool are hunting on all fronts, and you can read all Vwin’s predictions on the domestic cup final with Chelsea this coming weekend, and a tasking run-in as they chase Manchester City for the Premier League title to the wire. On the other hand, Madrid are focusing all their energy on winning their 13th European title. They have already secured the La Liga title, and coach Ancelotti will have the luxury of resting key players in the remaining matches, a luxury his counterpart cannot enjoy at Liverpool. It remains a close call, and there is everything to play for in the finals. Liverpool are out to avenge the 2018 disappointment, but Real Madrid wear the European Royalty tag for a reason.

Villarreal vs Liverpool Match Preview

Villarreal may have reached the end of their impressive Champions League run after Liverpool beat them 2-0 in the first leg of this semi-final at Anfield. Unai Emery’s team have eliminated Juventus and Bayern Munich to reach this level and they know they have underacheived. True to Jurgen Klopp’s words, Liverpool did not underrate them in the first leg and that helped the Reds to make win 2-0. Like they say, this game is still finely balanced and it is just the first half that has been played. Villarreal know Liverpool would be a tough nut to crack and the Reds showed in that first leg that they will do all they can to win a match. Emery will be hard at work to ensure his team earn the win, but overturning a 2-0 deficit against a defence that has Virgil van Dijk, is almost wishful thinking. Liverpool has faced Villarreal three times before now and have won two, while losing one. That loss was at the home of the Yellow Submarines and they will be careful not to suffer another defeat in this game.

Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund Match Preview

The latest Der Klassiker comes at a time when it seems Bayern Munich are in crisis and they could take their anger out on Borussia Dortmund. The German champions have just been eliminated from the Champions League by Villarreal and they now have just domestic competitions to try to win. They are on the road to winning a tenth consecutive league title in this campaign and BVB is the only club closest to them on the league table now. If they win this game, they will move 12 points clear of the visitors and that should be enough motivation to get them to win all the points. Bayern has dominated this fixture in recent times and they have won all their last five meetings with BVB in all competitions. Marco Rose has done a good job at Dortmund so far and beating Bayern in this game will be special. But the host also knows the threat BVB carries and should be harder to play against than we could think. Robert Lewandowski has been in great form and this game offers him another chance to haunt his former club.

Manchester City vs Liverpool Match Preview

Manchester City and Liverpool will face each other weeks after their 2-2 draw at the Etihad and this time Liverpool will be keen to get the upperhand. The Reds are chasing an unprecedented quadruple and they can keep believing in it if they can reach the final of the FA Cup. They have won the League Cup, are one point behind City in the Premier League title race and are also in the semi-final of the FA Cup and the Champions League. Manchester City know they have to stop Liverpool from doing that and the Reds will feel unbeatable if they manage to beat them today. City’s chances of earning a win from this match has not been helped by the fact that they will be without Kyle Walker and Kevin de Brune who both got injured in their match against Atletico Madrid. Jurgen Klopp has all his Liverpool players fit and available in an important time in this season and he would feel confident in them winning this match for him. Both clubs have already met twice this season, with both games ending in 2-2 draws, which just shows the closeness in quality between both of them.

Lyon vs West Ham Match Preview

West Ham will visit Lyon as they continue chasing European glory in this campaign and David Moyes’ side will know their trip to France will be tough. They were held to a 1-1 draw at home in the first leg even though they had to play some minutes with ten men. It was a brave performance from them. This game offers them the chance to complete what they have started already, but it would be much harder to get a win in France now that the away goals rule has been abolished. The Irons are battling for a European place on the league table and has to also do well in the Europa League, which is a commendable thing for them to do. Will Lyon allow them make the semi-final? The French club wants a crack at this competition and they will feel confident in themselves finishing the job at home after that first leg draw in England. But they are struggling to get wins, having won just one of their last five matches although others have been draws. Another stalemate in this game could lead to penalties which might not favour them.

Barcelona vs Eintracht Frankfurt Match Preview

Barcelona will look to make the semi-final of the Europa League by beating Eintracht Frankfurt in this quarterfinal return leg after their 1-1 draw in Germany. Xavi Hernandez has made them one of the most-improved clubs in the world in recent months and if he wins a trophy at the helm, it would be a nice cherry on the cake. The Catalans have been lucky with the in-form Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who joined them unexpectedly from Arsenal in January and has been scoring goals for fun. The striker will look to get another one in this game, but as they found out in the first leg, Frankfurt will not be pushovers and they will fight to ensure they get something from this match. The Germans have not won any of their last five matches and they even got beaten 2-1 at the weekend, but when they face tough opponents they bring out their bests. Barca has not lost any of their last ten matches and they won eight of those games which will boost their confidence ahead of this game.

Portugal vs Turkey Match Preview

Can you imagine a World Cup without Cristiano Ronaldo and Diogo Jota? Well that could happen as Portugal struggles to qualify for the FIFA World Cup later this year. They were beaten to an automatic ticket in their group by Serbia and will now navigate through the playoff to earn a spot in the competition. The first game on their Playoff path is against a Turkish side that also underperformed in the qualifying groups, but cannot be underrated. They have some of the finest players in Europe in different positions and they will certainly cause troubles for the Portuguese in this match. Portugal has not won any of their last two international matches and that contributed to why they failed to get a World Cup ticket automatically. They even lost their last game at home to Serbia and Turkey will feel they can also stun the host in this match. The Turks won their last three qualifying matches and haven’t lost any of their last four games ahead of this match. That form could prove pivotal in this match and Portugal cannot afford to underestimate their opponents until the 90 minutes is over.
