Burton Albion have signed Chelsea midfielder Charlie Webster.
Webster will join Burton in a permanent transfer after spending last season on-loan with Heerenveen.
The midfielder reunited with former Chelsea U21 coach Mark Robinson, who became Burton manager earlier this month.
Webster said: “I think it’s a great time to be a Brewer. There’s a lot happening at the club and I’m very excited to be a part of it.
“I always want to play at the level I know I can play at. Regular men’s football is something I’m always aspiring to play and this is a really good stage for me to go and show what I can do.
“When I knew Mark Robinson was going to become Head Coach here it was a big thing for me. At Chelsea we had a great relationship. He’s a guy who has really strong morals and values and really cares about his players which I think is the most important thing.”
Burton Albion Sporting Director Bendik Hareide also told the club’s website: “We are very pleased to have Charlie Webster on board. He is a talented midfielder with creative skills and goal-scoring abilities.
“Charlie’s addition brings a new dynamic to our squad, and we are really looking forward to seeing him in action for Burton Albion.”
Manchester City have informed Barcelona to forget about a new loan for Joao Cancelo.
Both Barca and Cancelo are eager to keep working together next season after last campaign’s loan.
The Catalans want a new 12-month temporary deal with him, but City are insisting on a straight sale for the player.
Sport says Manchester want £20-25m to sell the Portugal national.
However, Barcelona is insisting they do not have cash for an instant deal and would instead be open to a loan with an option to buy an arrangement for a set free.

Romania will love their chances tonight, after subduing Ukraine in a show of strength. They exploited two mistakes from Ukranaian goalkeeper Andriy Lunin to get an impressive victory. The last time Romania won at the Euros was against England in 2000. They exited the group stage in the 2008 and 2016 tournaments without ever winning.
Having gotten a remarkable 3-0 win, over Belgium, Romania are now well-positioned in finish at the top of Group E. They are one victory away from their next two games, which should see them advance to the knockout stages.
MatchPlug Prediction For Belgium VS Romania
Romania and Belgium played very well in the qualifying stage for the tournament, but began their campaigns in contrasting manners. Lunin’s disappointing performance helped Romania’s 3-0 victory over Ukraine. However, they might not be that lucky against Belgium. Tedesco’s men got enough chaances in their defeat against Slovakia and if their attacking unit can up their game. they should get a much-needed win tonight.

Poland gave up a late goal in their meeting against the Netherlands and will desperately fight for a win today. They face France in the final group-stage match next week, so it is important for them to win this game. Robert Lewandowski is back and should start this meeting after being a substitute in the first match.

Austria put up a strong defence against France in their opening match. It was Maximilian Wöber’s own goal that condemned them. They edged out the 2018 FIFA World Cup champions in terms of possession (52%) and also had three shots on target.
Das Team held their ground against France and Ralf Rangnick was happy with his squad’s performance despite a slim loss. He is likely to stick with a similar starting XI from that goal and Marco Arnautovic might not get a start.
MatchPlug Prediction For Poland VS Austria

This an important game for Slovakia and Ukraine, as it will decide their fate in the tournament. With the stakes high, both clubs will want to put on a good performance and likely end in a draw.

The UEFA European Championship is one of the other major football tournaments that brings together the biggest and best star players in the world. In this year’s competition alone, there are numerous players to watch out for as the competition unfolds.
Key Players To Back In The Euro 2024
Let’s discuss the key players in the Euro 2024.
1. Florian Wirtz
Bayer Leverkusen player Florian Wirtz is a key figure in Germany’s attack. As part of the squad that made history with Xabi Alonso in Germany, Wirtz has delivered almost 40 goals and assists across all competitions this season.
Country: Germany.
Group: A
2. Nico Williams
Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams is a tough player to mark. His performances this season for the club and country, gave him an excellent head start. Williams has accumulated three assists in limited qualifying minutes, and will make his mark in this matchup.
Country: Spain.
Group: B.
3. Bukayo Saka
Bukayo Saka is a trailblazer at Arsenal and there is no doubt that he will bring that fire to the Euro 2024 competition. As the Gunner’s winger, Saka has averaged 3+ shots per league match this season and contributed 30+ goals in all competitions.
He should prove effective in tackling the weaker teams in Group C; Slovenia and Serbia, who will be too spread thin fending off other predators to see Saka coming.
Country: England.
Group: C.
4. Kylian Mbappé
Kylian Mbappé is a phenomenon leading the French qualifying charts in every attacking metric. The captain will have his eye on another trophy. With 12 goals in 18 major tournament appearances, Mbappé’s price in the goalscorer markets are worthy of tracking.
Country: France
Group: D.
5. Romelu Lukaku
Romelu Lukaku had a poor 2022 World Cup appearance where he missed key chances and was a scapegoat for Belgium’s group stage exit. That is all in the past now. Lukaku has found a working system with young players assisting him.
Country: Belgium.
Group: E.
6. Joao Palhinha
Joao Palhinha has anticipated getting the same destroyer role for Portugal’s national football team that he is renowned for in Fulham. During qualification, no player from a major country could touch his 22 tackles, 17 fouls and two cards. Palhinha only played in six of 10 games.
Country: Portugal.
Group: F.
Top Goal Scorers Candidates For Euro 2024
The Euro 2024 tournament is a platform for players to show off their individual talents too. With certain strong teams competing, there are few who promise to impress on the field for this contest. Here are some players to back for top scorers and top assist providers when betting on the Euro 2024.
Top Goal Scorers Candidates
1. Harry Kane
Kane is the captain of England and has proven to be adept at churning out goals, winning the Premier League Golden Boot award three times. Harry’s finishing capacity and preciseness makes him a top contender for top goal scorer.
2. Kylian Mbappé
The French prodigy is a World Cup winner and recognized for his lightning fast pace, dribbling skills, and adeptness at scoring goals. Kylian is a strong contender for the top goal scorer award.
3. Cristiano Ronaldo
Due to not playing in the big leagues anymore, Cristiano Ronaldo has flown under the radar for the football season. In what might be his last Euros tournament, CR7 will give it everything he’s got. Ronaldo was the 2nd top scorer in the qualifiers for the Euro 2024, so if Portugal advances to the finals, he’ll certainly top the list.
Top Assist Provider
The highest goal scorer is not the only award up for grabs in this tournament, the player with the most assists will be selected too. There are presently two candidates on everyone’s minds.
1. Kevin De Bruyne
De Bruyne is a creative genius on the field, renowned for his razor sharp passing, vision, and ability to break through opponent’s defences. Fans can expect him to set up goals for Rumelo Lukaku and his other teammates throughout the contest.
2. Bruno Fernandes
Fernandes is a force to reckon with in midfield, he boasts a magical left foot and spectacular playmaking abilities. Bruno’s knack for seeking out teammates in strategic positions makes him a strong competitor for this category.
Predicted Golden Boot Winners For The Euro 2024
The Golden Boot award is a coveted trophy that only the best players in a contest can win. For this Euro 2024, experts have already picked the players who they believe will be the one to win the award.
1. Harry Kane
Harry Kane became England’s all-time top goalscorer during the qualification campaign, and will hope to send his team to victory. In Euro 2020, Kane’s four goals in the knockout handed England the victory.
Kane won the Golden Boot at the 2018 World Cup, he enters this tournament after scoring over 40 goals in his debut season at Bayern Munich.
2. Romelu Lukaku
No player in the contest could reach Romelu Lukaku’s 14 goals in the qualifying round. This brought his total to 83 in 114 appearances. Although Lukaku isn’t team captain, he will hope to hand Belgium their first major Trophy.
Scoring in the group stage is important for winning Golden Boot, and Romelu has enough legs in his team to help him achieve this.
3. Kylian Mbappé
Many Euros fans will back Mbappé to add the Golden Boot to his awards collection after he finished as the top goalscorer at the World Cup 2022 in Qatar. He scored 50 goals in 55 matches for PSG and France in the 2023/24 season,
Kylian should get many chances to find the back of opponent’s nets as France are among the favourites to win the Euro 2024 trophy. He seems like a player to fight for this coveted award.
4. Jude Bellingham
Jude Bellingham just delivered one of the best La Liga debuts of all time for Real Madrid. Now, he wants the Euros title and a Golden Boot if he can get it. Bellingham’s second half of the La Liga season was not as good as his beginning, but he finished the season with a remarkable 23 goals from attacking midfield.
In this contest, England coach Southgate intends to build his team around Bellingham. With enough attacking freedom, the Real Madrid phenom can add more goals to his meagre three international goals.
5. Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo may be nearing the end of his football career and playing for Saudi Arabia, but he is still a terrifying opponent for defenders, and will be Portugal’s main player on the international pitch.
Ronaldo is the leading scorer of all time in the European Championship and should appear in many games in Germany, because Portugal was put in an easy group.
6. Olivier Giroud
French man and record scorer Oliver Giroud will be hard to beat for the Golden Boot award, as he will want to end his international career with a bang. Giroud announced that he will retire from his national team.
7. Álvaro Morata
Morata is a dangerous goalscorer, despite getting criticisms that he is not consistent in front of goals. Nevertheless, the Spain start remains a solid competitor for the Golden Boot in Euro 2024.
Álvaro in the 2024 Euro qualifying round, scored four goals for Spain and can maintain that streak in Germany. His performance makes him a good candidate to win the Golden Boot, as his team will progress in the tournament.
8. Antoine Griezmann
Antoine Griezmann has an ironclad pedigree in the European Championship, finishing as top scorer in the 2016 Euros with six goals. However, after losing to Portugal in the final, and having an uneventful five years after that, the Atletico Madrid player will be spurred to perform well in Germany.
Griezmann already looks good, scoring 24 times for Atletico this season, although his recent goal record at international level is far from excellent. He is more of an assistant for France than he is for Madrid, but that won’t stop him from scoring more in the tournament.
Potential Favorites To Win The Euro 2024 Tournament
What makes the Euros so thrilling is that it brings together the best football playing countries in the continent and puts them in group with the struggling ones. This year, some countries made their debut in the tournament, participating for the first time as independent nations, while others did not make the cut.
The contest might just be starting and there is a very high chance of things getting difficult for some of the participating teams as the tournament unfolds. However, sports analysts have taken the liberty of predicting which teams have what it takes to win it all in this contest.
Which countries are the favorites to win?
1. England
England have had many near successes in international matches. In the 2018 World Cup, they reached the semifinals, their first-ever Euro final in 2020, and the quarterfinal run at the 2022 World Cup.
After losing to Italy on penalties in the last European Championship final to lose their second major international trophy, they will return with a vengeance to finish the job this year.
2. France
France were an outstretched Emi Martinez foot and penalties away from securing consecutive World Cups won, so it’s no surprise that they are among the favourites for Euro 2024.
Les Blues quickly dispatched their Euro qualifying opponents, winning seven matches and drawing eight games. They scored 29 goals and permitted just three.
3. Germany
After winning the World Cup in 2014, Germany fell short of expectations in subsequent major tournaments. They lost to England in the Euro 2024 round-of-16 and missed the knockout stage in successive World Cups. Their poor record continued in 2023, where they lost six matches and drew twice in 11 international friendlies.
But, Germany is still a force in European football and should not be underestimated. They have the advantage of being the hosts. Die Mannschaft will have history on their side, they have won the European Championship three times.
4. Spain
Although they are not as strong as they used to be, Spain is not an easy country to defeat. Their last five knockout games at major contests have all entered extra-time and four were determined by spot-kicks, three eliminations, so their recent World Cup and Euros record would have been better with more luck.
Spain will fight for top spot with Italy, Croatia and Albania in a competitive Group B. However, the three-time champions are ranked as the most likely team to win the Euros this year. La Roja have lost just two of their last 22 games at the Euros, two of those losses were from Croatia and Italy in the 2016 campaign.
5. Portugal
With Portugal’s track record, it would be unwise to rule them out as title contenders in this tournament. While Spain has better chances of winning the Euros than Portugal, Robert Martinez’s men have a higher chance of advancing to the last four. These two teams will be in close competition for top four.

The Los Angeles Dodgers won their third straight and their fourth in the last five matches as they pull off a ninth-inning rally to stun the Rockies on Tuesday night. The Dodgers entered Wednesday’s game 46-29 on the year. They had a nine-game lead on Arizona for the top spot. On Tuesday, Shohei Ohtani and Miguel Vargas gave Los Angeles two hits to lead the way.
Gavin Stone takes the mound as he makes his 14th start of the season for the Dodgers in this tournament. He is 7-2 with a 3.01 ERA, 1.205 WHIP, 23 walks and 56 strikeouts over 74.2 innings of work on the season. Stone did not consider the decision he made in his last start, which was against the Kansas City Royals at home on Friday night.
MatchPlug Prediction For Colorado Rockies VS Los Angeles Dodgers
The Colorado Rockies have a better offense at home than they do on the road, but their pitching is nothing to be proud of. The Rockies cannot contain Los Angeles’ bats as the Dodgers win the series finale.
