The Bundesliga has entered the 10th week, while there is still time for almost any team to win the competition, Borussia Dortmund doesn’t look like they would be relinquishing the top spot soon enough. Here are our review of Matchday 10 games.
VfB Stuttgart 0 vs 3 Eintracht Frankfurt
Stuttgart continued their poor start to the season as they were well beaten at home by German Cup holders, Eintracht Frankfurt two first-half goals gave the lead, and while Stuttgart looked like getting back into the game, they were killed off by an 89th-minute strike from Nicolai Muller.
Bayer 1 vs 4 Hoffenheim
This was one of the most impressive results of the weekend as Hoffenheim visited Bayer Leverkusen in one of the most anticipated games of the weekend. The visitors took the lead through Arsenal loanee, Neilson on the 19th minutes, however, the home side pegged them back on the 30th minute. Hoffenheim restored their lead on the 34th minute before 2 further goals put the game beyond the home team.
Schalke 04 3 vs 1 Hannover 96
Schalke 04 prepared for their Champions League clash in midweek with a routine 3-1 win over Hannover 96. Nabil Bentaleb gave them the lead from the penalty spot, but they were pegged back by Hanover on the 70th minute before Breel Embolo restored their lead in 71st minute, then Mark Uth wrapped up the points on the 85th minute.
Bayern Munich 1 vs 1 Sc Freiburg
Defending Champions Bayern Munich continue to struggle this season as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Freiburg. They were made to work hard until the 80th minute before they took the lead through Serge Gnabry, but they were pegged back by the visitors again on the 89th minute. Niko Kovac’s men are now 3rd on the league table, 4 points behind Borussia Dortmund.
Wolfsburg 0 vs 1 Borussia Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund were not on their attacking best at the weekend, but they still managed to secure a 1-0 away win over Wolfsburg. That result has helped them consolidate their position at the top of the league table as 4 points separate them from the rests now.
Augsburg 2 vs 2 Nurnberg
Nurnberg came from behind twice to earn a point away at Augsburg this weekend. The home team had taken the lead on the 11th minute, but they were pegged back on the 54th minute. They took the lead 5 minutes after and looked like earning all three points, but Lukas Muhl scored an 88-minute equalizer for the visitors to ensure that the spoils are shared.
Hertha Berlin 0 vs 3 RB Leipzig
After beating Bayern Munich and earning a point against Borussia Dortmund, many expected Hertha Berlin to get a home win in this game, but Leipzig showed them that they are one of the best teams in Germany. A brace of goals either half from Timo Werner and the other from Matheus Cunha was enough to help Leipzig see off Berlin.
Borussia Monchengladbach 3 vs 0 Fortuna Dusseldorf
Three second-half goals helped Monchengladbach beat their newly promoted visitors in this game. The visitors had held firm for the entire first half, but Monchengladbach came into the second half with more determination to break them down, and it paid off. The visitors are now second from bottom, and level on points with VfB Stuttgart.
Mainz 2 vs 1 Werder Bremen
Mainz edge out Bremen in the last game of Matchday 10 in Germany. One goal in each half gave them a 2-0 lead before former Chelsea striker, Claudio Pizarro scored what turned out to be just a consolation goal in the 78th minute for Bremen.
Liverpool were on the verge of running away with all three points against Arsenal at the weekend, only to be pegged back by a fine Alexandre Lacazette goal with less than 10 minutes of normal time left to play.
The Reds currently top one of the toughest groups in the Champions League, but with Napoli and PSG also vying for a top-two finish, this game offers them the chance to go clear at the top of the group.
The Reds scored 4 goals against the Serbians when they met two weeks back at Anfield. They have scored 9 goals in their last three competitive games and they seem to be getting better as the season progresses, would they rain goals again in Serbia here?
Red Star are currently bottom of the group after they were beaten 4-0 by Liverpool in their last Champions League game. They earned a point against Napoli in their only home game so far, and they would be hoping that they can get that kind of result here again.
Beating or earning a draw against Liverpool may not help them qualify for the Europa League or the Champions League next round, but it would blow the lid on this group wide open.
This will be Liverpool’s first away game against Crvena Zvezda in European competition since October 1973, when they lost 2-1 in the first leg of a Last 16 tie in the European Cup/Champions League.

When these teams met last month, we all expected a tight affair between two evenly matched teams, but the 4-0 result after a bashing of Atletico Madrid by Borussia Dortmund looked so much like a one-sided game even though it was still a surprising result.
That result shows just how good Dortmund are shaping up to become under the leadership of Lucien Favre. The former Nice manager has helped them to go 4 points clear in the Bundesliga table, and 3 points clear of Atletico Madrid in their Champions League group. A win here would help Dortmund qualify for the next round as group winners.
Atletico Madrid suffered their heaviest defeat inside 90 minutes under Diego Simeone in their last Champions League against this Dortmund side, and they would be out to correct that in this game. The Spaniards haven’t had a straightforward season so far.
They drew 1-1 against Leganes at the weekend to go 4 points behind Barcelona at the top of the La Liga table. They are on course to do better in the Champions League this season, but that is only because AS Monaco and Anderlecht are not doing anything good to get a passage from the group stage.
Atlético Madrid have won just one of their five games against Borussia Dortmund in European competition (D1 L3), including defeats in three of the most recent four meetings.

Napoli and PSG face off in what could be the biggest game of this matchday as they both look to keep pace with Liverpool at the top of their Champions League group.
Napoli are shaping up to becoming one of the best underdogs in Europe at the moment. Carlo Ancelotti has switched to a 4-4-2 formation so that he can accommodate both Dries Mertens and Lorenzo Insigne in his starting eleven and the chemistry between them is blossoming.
They almost beat PSG in France in their last Champions League, but a sublime goal from Angel di Maria saved the blushes of the French side. They remain unbeaten having beaten Liverpool and collected 2 points from Red Star and PSG.
PSG are under immense pressure to perform in Europe this season, and anything other than a win in this game could aid their elimination from the competition and that would be embarrassing judging by the attacking talents at their disposal.
The French men have won 12 consecutive games in France, but they have just 4 points from their opening 3 games in the Champions League so far. Liverpool and Napoli has exposed serious problems in their defence and midfield and the Italians should get a win in this notoriously difficult stadium that Napoli has won all but one of their competitive fixtures this season.

This game presents Inter Milan with a chance to step one foot in the Champions League next round, can they take it? Barcelona have also started getting their mojo back, would they allow Inter get the better of them in this game?
This Inter Milan team continues to get better every week. They beat Lazio in their last game to go on a 7 games winning streak in the Serie A. They have also won 9 of their last 10 games in all competition, their only loss in that period of time coming at the hands of Barcelona in their last Champions League game. The Italians have netted 8 times in their last two league games, and they come into this game having scored 20 times in their last 10 games, so they have confidence ahead of this clash.
Inter rested their top marksman, Mauro Icardi for the weekend and they still scored 5 goals, they would also have the pleasure of playing Ragna Naingalon in this game after he missed their defeat at Barcelona.
Barcelona have been without Lionel Messi in their last 4 games, but haven’t done too badly in his absence. They have scored 13 goals since he last stepped his foot on a pitch for them. Luis Suarez has scored 5 of those goals, and a late goal from him helped them beat Rayo Vallecano at the weekend to remain top of La Liga.
Barcelona have some defensive issues that Inter Milan could exploit. They have kept just a single clean sheet in their last 6 away games, and 3 of those matches have seen them concede at least 2 goals.
Arsenal are beginning to show signs of moving on from the mediocre days of Arsene Wenger under Unai Emery. The Gunners’ 2-1 win over Blackpool in midweek was the 13th consecutive time they have played a game without losing, and 12 of those matches have ended in wins for them.
Their Premier League winning run came to an end last weekend against Crystal Palace and many think that the bubble has burst for them, but that could be far from reality. The Gunners have only kept 4 clean sheets in 15 competitive games this season, and they have conceded 13 goals in 10 league games already, it would a tough day for them against this rampaging Liverpool side.
Liverpool come into this game in the second position only on goal difference as they look to win the Premier League this season. They beat Cardiff City 4-1 last weekend, the second time they had scored 4 goals in less than a week. The Reds had no midweek engagement, so they would be coming into this game fresher than their hosts.
Liverpool have won 8 of their 10 league games this season, including 4 wins in 5 away games, so they would be pretty confident that they can continue their fine run of form against the Gunners here.
Liverpool have won three and drawn three of their last six meetings with Arsenal, last losing to them in April 2015 at the Emirates.
