Manchester United would be heading to their neighbours, Manchester City with their famous comeback win last season firmly on their minds as they look to stop City’s unbeaten run.
The Red Devils come into this game in fine recovery form. They have trailed in five of their last six games in all competitions, only to come from behind to snatch victory in 3 of them. They were also close to winning from behind at Chelsea before a last-gap Ross Barkley leveller for the Blues.
The Red Devils would be inspired to repeat their last season heroics by the 2-1 win over Juventus in midweek but they should expect a tougher test here.
Manchester City are not just leading the Premier League table by points, they lead on goals as well. As a matter of fact, Pep Guardiola’s men have scored 6 goals each in their last two home games, and they square up against a Manchester United defence that has conceded 18 league goals already this season.
Manchester City know that anything short of winning this game would see their title rivals catch up with them, while Manchester United would also want to avoid opening a bigger points gap between them and their fellow title challengers.
None of the last six Manchester derbies in the Premier League has ended in a home victory, four of them won by the away team with two 0-0 draws

These two teams come into this game hurting for various reasons. Liverpool were beaten 2-0 by Red Star Belgrade in their Champions League game in midweek, it was a shocking performance that deserves a response. Fulham, on the other hand, suffered yet another loss on Monday against Huddersfield that effectively sent them to the bottom of the Premier League table.
Liverpool have maintained an unbeaten start to the Premier League season but draws against Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City have left them trailing both Manchester City and Chelsea, the former by two points, the latter on goal difference.
They have generally been good at home so far, winning all but one home league game (against Manchester City). The likes of Mohamed Salah have begun to find their scoring boot and they should help the Reds take Fulham apart in this game.
Fulham’s manager Slavisa Jokanovic is on the verge of getting sacked after their poor start to the season. His teams usually get better as the season progresses, but we all know that it can be difficult to recover from an early slump in the Premier League.
The Cottagers come into this game on the back of four straight losses and they have conceded the most goal in the Premier League this season. They also have an awful record when they play Liverpool.
They have lost all of their last 4 games against Liverpool and managed to score just once in their last 8 visits to Anfield.
This season has been a disastrous one for AS Monaco and it is such a stunning fall from grace for a team that won the French League just two seasons ago. Now they face PSG that has won every domestic game this season, it can only get worse for Thierry Henry’s men.
Monaco have played 17 games in all competition this season, and their 4-0 home loss to Club Brugge in midweek was the 16th time they have failed to win a game. They are currently second from bottom in the French Ligue 1 and need 4 points to be safe from relegation.
PSG have dominated the French game for so long that the only place they want to make a name for themselves now is in Europe. Nevertheless, they have still continued to show that they are a class above the rest in France as they come into this game with a 100 percent record in the French topflight.
They have dropped points against only Liverpool and SS Napoli in Europe at the moment and they would be looking to pile more misery on Henry’s men in this game.
Fenerbahce is another team that is struggling in their domestic league so far as they try to catch the likes of Besiktas. They come into this game after a thrilling 2-2 draw against bitter rivals, Galatasaray and that game shows that slowly and gradually, their season is beginning to pick up.
They have collected 4 points from an available 9 in the Europa League so far and this game offers them the chance to keep the pressure on runaway group leaders Dynamo Zagreb. They have been a tough side to break down when they play at home this season, and they would be banking on that home form to get them the points here.
Anderlecht thought they could run away with all the points when they played Fenerbahce at the end of last month, but the Turks rallied round and shared the spoils in an eventual 2-2 draw in Brussels.
They come into this match as the bottom of the group and they know that another defeat would eliminate them from the competition, so we expect them to come out fighting for all the points here.
Spartak Moscow are seriously underachieving this season by the standards they have set for themselves over the past two seasons. Having finished last season in the third position, they were expected to be challenging the likes of Zenith and CSKA Moscow for the Russian league title this season, however, they come into this game in the 7th position in Russia and have just two wins from their last 8 games in all competitions.
They were dumped out of the Champions League in the qualifying round and have been dismal in their Europa League group campaign so far. They have collected just two points from 9 that has been made available to them, but one of those points came away at Rangers in their last Matchday, so they would be eager to do better here again.
Rangers have done well on their return to European football thanks to some good management of average players by Steven Gerard. The former Liverpool man helped them navigate the difficult qualifying rounds, and has placed them within 5 points of the Scottish league title with a game in hand.
They were beaten by Aberdeen at the League Cup semifinals a couple of games back, but that was their first loss in 8 games. They have also saved their best performances for this competition and they could get all three points here again.
Lazio were on a 3 games winning streak before they were trashed 3-0 by Inter Milan last week, but they showed enough character to bounce back from that with a 4-1 win over SPAL in their very next game. They have the luxury of playing an in-form Ciro Immobile and they would be hoping he can fire them to victory against Marseille.
Lazio are impressing greatly in the final third and this game offers them the chance to challenge for the top spot with Eintracht Frankfurt, so a win in this game would offer them very important three points.
Marseille are in dire need of the points in this game. They were beaten by Lazio at home 3-1 two weeks back, and they have also lost to PSG 0-2, and Montpellier 3-0 before this fixture, so they would be the least confident side ahead of this game.
Their defensive problems has become their Achilles heels this season and if they don’t fix it, they risk losing this game and exiting the Europa League at the group stage.
Chelsea head into this game hoping to keep their unbeaten season intact as they also look to make progress in the Europa League.
The Blues hosted the Belarusians 2 weeks ago, and their win on that night started a 4 games winning streak which includes wins over Burnley, Derby County, and Crystal Palace. Maurizio Sarri now has a team of in-formed attackers to choose from and he would be expecting to get another win here.
BATE couldn’t cope with Chelsea’s firepower when they visited London just two weeks back. Ruben Loftus-Cheek was on fire and he scored a hattrick against them.
The Belarusians have since won three local games in a row, but that would hardly prepare them for a game against a team of Chelsea’s quality.
They are currently neck and neck with the other two teams in the group and they would be looking to get a point here to prove that they can qualify as the second best team in the group.
