Arsenal and Manchester City make contact with West Brom for their in demand star

Arsenal have made contact with West Bro over the potential transfer of Jonny Evans this month.

The Gunners are looking for experienced defensive cover after their shocking loss to Nottingham Forest at the weekend.

Wenger has reportedly made contact with the Baggies and he is prepared to pay £25 million for the centre back.

However, according to Sun Sport, the Gunners face serious opposition from Manchester City who have also asked about the possibility of signing Evans this month.

Pep Guardiola wants cover for the always injured Vincent Kompany and believes Evans has the experience and quality they need at the back.

The former Manchester United defender favours a move to City as it would bring him closer to his family.

West Brom have no interest in selling the Irish man at the moment, and their new manager Allan Pardew, has asked the club to offer him a new deal worth around £100,000 per week.

However, Evans has reportedly told the Baggies he has no interest in signing a new deal at the Hawthorns.

With his current deal having only 18 months left, they might be forced to consider the offers from the Premier League duo.
