Liverpool has sold Takumi Minamino to AS Monaco for £15.5m as the Japan international ends his spell with the Reds.
He joined Liverpool from RB Salzburg in the January of 2020 and remained a backup to the club’s main front-three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.
However, he always delivered when he is handed chances to play for the Reds.
He was their hero in the initial rounds of the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup last season.
Although he didn’t play in the final of each competition, but his contributions helped Jurgen Klopp’s side reach the last stage of the competition and ultimately won it.
The Japanese attacker has always wanted to play regularly and he is now almost certain to enjoy that in Monaco.
The French club’s manager, Phillipe Clement has been keen to work with him and he is delighted to have finally captured his signature.
A Liverpool statement as quoted by The Daily Mail reads: ‘Minamino departs Liverpool having left a lasting impression on teammates, coaches and the club’s honours list.
‘Everyone at LFC would like to thank Taki for his contributions and wish him every success in the next chapter of his career.’
