Bundesliga Match Day 12 Review: Bayern drop points again, but Borussia Dortmund can’t stop winning

Bayer Leverkusen 2 vs 0 VFB Stuttgart

Bayer continued their impressive run of form as they played struggling Stuttgart on Friday. The visitors came out strongly and were determined to avoid defeat yet again, but their resolve was broken in the 78 minute by Kevin Volland before he grabbed a second in the 83rd minute to put the game beyond them.

Bayern Munich 3 vs 3 Fortuna Düsseldorf

Bayern Munich’s struggle in the league this season continues as they were held to a 3-3 by visitors Düsseldorf. The defending champions took a 2-0 lead by the 20th minute and the visitors pulled one back on the 44 minute. But Muller scored his second and Bayern’s 3rd on the 58th minute and it appeared as if they had finally snatched all the points.

However, the visitors were in no mood to give up and scored two late goals with the last coming in the 3rd minute of added time. This is now Bayern’s worst start to a season in 24 years.

Fc Augsburg 1 vs 3 Eintracht Frankfurt

Frankfurt secured an impressive 3-1 away win over Augsburg on Saturday. The visitors were so rampant and organized at the back that they took a 3-0 lead by the 68th minute. Augsburg only found a way through their defence in the 90th minute when Sergio Cordoba scored a consolation goal for them.

Mainz 1 vs 2 Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund just don’t know how to lose games at the moment and they showed enough character to record yet another win at Mainz this weekend. The Bundesliga leaders took the lead in the 66th minute through Paco Alcacer, they were pegged back on the 70th minute, but responded with another goal on the 77th minute to take the game beyond the visitors and move themselves 4 points clear at the top of the table.

Hertha 3 vs 3 Hoffenheim

Hoffenheim and Hertha played an entertaining 3-3 draw at the German capital on Saturday. The visitors drew the first blood in the very first minute of the game and added another goal on the 10th minute. Vedad Ibisevic pulled one back for the home side in the 13th minute, but the visitors scored again in the 55th minute.

Two late goals from Matthew Leckie and Valentino Lazaro were enough to share the spoils for the home side.

Wolfsburg 1 vs 0 RB Leipzig

RB Leipzig suffered a shocking 1-0 loss at Wolfsburg this weekend. The visitors were looking to start this new week in the 3rd position but they have begun it in the 4th position which is not so bad. They had the better statistics in almost everything in the game, yet they fell to a Jerome Roussilon goal in the 5oth minute.

They probed and probed, but the home side remained solid at the back and held on for a win that took them to the 9th position.

Schalke 04 5 vs 2 Nurnberg

Schalke 04 secured a very important win over Nurnberg at the weekend as they look to get up the league table. They quickly raced to a 2-0 win by the 32nd minute before the visitors pulled one back, they soon restored their 2 goals lead before the visitors pegged them back again, despite going a man down.

Schalke soon made their extra man count and scored 2 late goals to end the game with 3 goals to the good.

Freiburg 1 vs 1 Werder Bremen

Bremen left it late to share the spoils with Freiburg on Sunday. The home side had taken the lead through a spot kick in the 42nd minute. The game became almost an even affair from that point as both teams looked to get the next goal which would definitely have been vital. However, we had to wait until the 2nd minute of added time for the visitors to equalize through Ludwig Augustinsson.

Monchengladbach 4 vs 1 Hannover 96

Monchengladbach climbed to the second position on the league table with a 4-1 win over Hannover. The visitors had taken a shock lead in the 1st minute of the game. That woke the home side up and they scored the equalizer in the 7th minute, they would go on to score 3 more unreplied goals by the 77th minute.
