The race for who would not be relegated from the Premier League this season has been more interesting than the race for the division’s winner since Manchester City proved that they are head and shoulders above the rest of the top six, and this game brings two of the bottom four together in what could be a relegation shootout.
When Carlos Calvahal was named as Swansea manager, their results quickly changed and it seemed as if they would end the season inside the top ten, however, things have taken the turn for the worse yet again and the Swans could get relegated if they lose here. Their last league game ended in a 1-0 loss to Bournemouth, the 7th game they have played without a win, and they have collected just 3 points from a possible 21.
Southampton, on the other hand, seems to have found their feet towards this tail end of the season. While the Saints have still won only two of their last 23 league games, they have managed to go undefeated in their last three league games, which is the major reason they are still in the league fighting.
Swansea come into this game 18th and just behind their visitors on goal difference, they would be hoping to win here and send the Saints down to the Championship.
