Real Madrid enter the race for the signature of Tottenham defender

Real Madrid have become the latest team to declare an interest in signing Tottenham’s Toby Alderwereild.

The Belgian is currently in a contract standoff with the north London side as they look to tie him down to a new long-term contract. he currently earns £50,000 per week, but he is looking to break their wage ceiling with a reported £115, 000 per week.

The Lilywhites know that they would have to start offering their players more money to keep the best of them, but they are not willing to make the defender their highest paid employee.

Chelsea and Manchester United have been monitoring negotiations, reports yesterday suggested that the Portuguese manager has demanded that the Red Devils sign the former Atletico Madrid man, however, Manchester United know it is difficult to sign players from Tottenham.

Sun Sport is reporting that Real Madrid have entered the race and they believe Tottenham would prefer to do business with them as they are not an English team.

Los Blancos have been guilty of conceding very cheap goals this season and they have had to drop so many points from winning positions this season. Zinedine Zidane believes Alderweireld can help fix their defensive issues.
