Inter Milan director Ausilio: Lukaku? ‘When you hide or send answers through other people…’

ausilio speaks on lukaku

Inter Milan director Piero Ausilio says Romelu Lukaku now belongs in the past. Inter admits that it is disappointed with the Roma striker, but says there is no reason for regret over the player.

Ausilio told Radio Serie A: “Was Lukaku a disappointment? I prefer not to talk about a player who is from another club, I’ve never done so in recent months.

“I’m just saying that I like to think about the present and the future, and Lukaku is part of the past: with him, we won a Scudetto, he brought us a significant capital gain, and we lost two finals.

“I prefer not to talk about it. I’m just saying that there must be education and respect: things were moving forward, it’s clear, but at a certain point they stopped working. There are operations that don’t go through, but if there is respect it’s not never a problem. When you hide or send answers through other people, you think about moving on. For me it’s a chapter closed since July 8th: there’s no regrets.”

Ausilio also confirmed he made a strong phone call to Lukaku at the time.

“No… It was a firm phone call, but nothing special. I told Romelu what I thought after I couldn’t listen to him for some time.”
