Harry Maguire’s classy displays at the heart of Leicester’s defence has won the admiration of Pep Guardiola and the Catalan boss is set to add him to his team.
Maguire who joined the Foxes from Hull City last summer has been a revelation and his performance against Manchester City in the Carabao was so good Guardiola offered him a warm embrace after the final whistle.
Maguire joined Leicester for just £17 million but Guardiola is happy to sign him for £50 million as he looks to get cover for his depleted defence.
The 24 years old is not the only defender on Guardiola’s radar.
The Sun Claims Inigo Martinez of Real Sociedad and Johny Evans of West Brom remain options, but Maguire may have moved ahead of them all.
Martinez has a set release clause of £29 million, while Johny Evans could move for £30 million.
But Guardiola does not care if Maguire is too expensive and is committed to signing only the best players no matter their cost.
Leicester City are likely going to fight to keep him until next summer at least, but at £50 million, they might be tempted to cash in and find a cheaper replacement.
