Chelsea sign former Everton star for just £15 million

Chelsea have completed the signing of Ross Barkley for a reported £15 million.

The Blues have been courting Barkley for a long time now and were close to signing him for £35 million last summer.

However, Barkley had a change of heart and decided to wait until he recovers from his long-term injury at the time.

He missed the first six months of this season and has not made any appearances for the Toffees, however, he is fit again and should be ready to play for the Blues in their very next game.

Everton were keen on keeping hold of the England midfielder, but he was intent on leaving them for a bigger club.

With his current deal just under six months, the Toffees decided to cash in.

Barkley has reportedly signed a five and a half years contract with the Blues.

Antonio Conte was delighted to have signed the midfielder and claimed Barkley fit the profile of a young English midfielder they wanted to sign.

The Blues have given him their number 8 Jersey, a number that has been worn by legendary players like Frank Lampard.

Barkley made 150 appearances for Everton, scoring 21 goals.
