Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is still waiting for Manchester United to resurrect their desire to sign him this summer if Spurs chairman Daniel Levy lowers his asking price.

The Red Devils are strong admirers of Kane and were keen on acquiring him this summer. But they were put off by Levy’s £100 million valuation of the player, who is also attracting interest from Bayern Munich.

Man United feel that £100 million is too much for Kane, who turns 30 next month and has just one year left on his contract. They have turned their attention to signing Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund, who is younger and will cost far less than what Spurs want for Kane.

However, Kane still hopes that Man United will rekindle their interest in him should Levy change his heart. According to a report by Sportsmail, a price closer to £80m could tempt United back to the negotiating table, and Kane is hoping that will be the case.

However, Levy has also made it clear that he doesn’t want to sell the England captain to an English club in a move that would weaken Spurs and strengthen one of their rivals.

While other clubs outside of Emgksnd are monitoring the situation, Kane’s clear preference is United, and he hopes that Levy will relent rather than have to write off £ 80 million as the striker will be available for nothing in a year’s time.

However, the feeling on all sides is that the Tottenham chairman will stick to his guns – as he did when rejecting a £125m bid from Manchester City two years ago – and Kane will be forced to wait another year to leave as a free agent.
