Steven Gerard’s Rangers have had a good time in their domestic league this season and there is hope that somehow they can pip Celtic to the league title when the season comes to an end.

The Gers were on a 5 games unbeaten run before they lost to Motherwell last weekend and they would be desperate to get back to winning ways here as that is the only chance they have of keeping close contact with Celtic who are currently top of the standings.

St Johnstone have no title ambitions at the moment but their fans should be dreaming of playing in Europe next season as they are less than 10 points from the top and just 5 points off the 4th position, so Rangers have to prepare to face a team that is ready.

There are 4 points separating Rangers from Celtic at the moment and they need to win this game and close that gap to a single point if they want to keep competing against Brendan Rodgers’ men.

Aston Villa have had a storied season as they look to  get promoted at the end of this season. They host the Championship leaders in this game as they look to get another win, but that would be easier to say than to do.

Villa named Dean Smith as their manager a couple of weeks ago after they fired Steve Bruce, and there has been marked improvement since then.

Their progress has however, been affected by the number of draws they have played recently as they have played 3 draws from their last 4 games, their fans would be hopeful that they can get a win and stop Leeds’ momentum in this game.

Norwich have knocked Leeds off the top of the Championship table as they played earlier today, so Marcelo Bielsa’s men would be looking to get all three points here and return to the summit of the Championship table.

Since their relegation from the Premier League, this campaign genuinely looks like the one that could end with promotion and they would want to spend Christmas at the top of the Championship table.

Leeds have found it hard to beat Vila in recent times and their last three renewals have ended in a win for Villa and two draws.
