Manchester United have been targeting a sensational move for their former number 7, Christiano Ronaldo. Reports have even claimed that the player’s current struggles at the Bernabeu mean he would join them next summer.
However, the move is far more complicated than that and it appears more unlikely at the moment.
According to reports in the Spanish media, Ronaldo will never play for the Red Devils as long as Jose Mourinho remains the manager.
The Portuguese star fell out with the Manchester United manager when he played under him at Real Madrid. Mourinho managed him from 2010 to 2013. Their relationship was good at the beginning but it deteriorated by the time Mourinho left to take charge of Chelsea in the 2013/2014 season.
PSG wanted to make Mourinho their next manager, and Ronaldo was hoping Mourinho would join the French champions after this season. However, Mourinho has since extended his deal with the Old Trafford outfit until 2020.
Ronaldo is now set to join either PSG or move to the Chinese Super League.
After signing Alexis Sanchez last month, the Red Devils may not want to make a huge signing next summer, but if Gareth Bale becomes available, they would move for him.
