LeBron James has added another record to his collection.<\/p>\n
James started the Los Angeles Lakers’ game in Orlando on Saturday night to play in his 1,612th regular-season game, breaking a tie with Robert Parish for the most in NBA history.
\nThe milestone is a testament to James’s durability over 23 seasons, one more than Vince Carter’s previous record for most seasons played. This season, 79 players who have logged NBA minutes were not even born when James made his debut on October 29, 2003.<\/p>\n
James said he was not intentionally chasing the record.
\n“It’s not like I’m writing things down and looking at the record book and saying I’m going to get that,” James said. “It just kind of happened. It was not on the list of things that I wanted to accomplish.”<\/p>\n
The record adds to an already staggering list that includes most points scored, most minutes played, most All-NBA selections, most All-Star selections, most field goals made and attempted, most playoff games and most playoff points.
\nLakers teammate Austin Reaves has his own running tally of James’s achievements, which James says leans toward the creative side.
\n“He says a new stat every day about me,” James said.<\/p>\n
James reflected on what he set out to accomplish when he entered the league and acknowledged that many of the records he holds now were never part of the original plan.
