Murray will officially hit the open market on Wednesday when the new league year begins, marking the first time in his career he has been a free agent since being drafted first overall in 2019.<\/p>\n
Murray is owed $36.8 million in guarantees from Arizona, so he is expected to sign a one-year minimum deal with his next team, similar to what Russell Wilson did when he joined the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2024 after being released by Denver.<\/p>\n
“He’s never been a free agent before,” Pelissero said. “For Kyler, who’s going to be a free agent in 2027 after taking a one-year minimum deal this year, it makes sense to take his time and explore his options before deciding to take the next important step in his career.”<\/p>\n
Minnesota is looking for competition for 2024 first-round pick J.J. McCarthy at quarterback, and Murray fits that profile well.
