Madrid want to use Díaz in the deal to sign Napoli star, Kvaratskhelia

Real Madrid want to sign Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia this summer but will use a player as part of the deal.

According to reports in Spain, Los Blancos want to use AC Milan forward Brahim Díaz as a make-weight in the deal. Real Madrid 

Although former Madrid man Diaz has been signed permanently by AC Milan, Real Madrid can still bring him back to Santiago Bernabeu as they have a buyback clause in the deal that took him to San Siro.

According to the report, Madrid intend to bring him back and include him in a deal for Kvaratskhelia so that Napoli will reduce their asking price. The Serie A side signed the Georgian for just €10m last summer. But his form this season has attracted the interest of Europe’s leading clubs, including Real Madrid. 

As such, Napoli will look to sell him for at least €70m. Kvaratskhelia has scored eleven goals and provided 14 assists in 23 games this season.

Borussia Dortmund vs Chelsea: Preview and Expert Football Prediction 

Chelsea will travel to Signal Iduna Park this Wednesday to face Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of the 2022/23 round of 16.

The hosts come into this tie on the back of an impressive 2-0 win over Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga. The win was their sixth consecutive win in all competitive games after the restart, with each of those games seeing them score at least twice each occasion.

Their results, plus a patchy run of form by Bayern Munich, has seen the Black and Yellow move to within three points of the top spot in the Bundesliga. So they will welcome Chelsea to this tie full of confidence yet desperate to improve on a winless record from their last 12 games against British clubs (D3, L9).

However, Chelsea will travel to Germany in patchy form, having won just once in their last eight outings in 2023 (D4, L3). Despite being richly loaded in attack, they also failed to score more than once in any of those games.

With the pressure mounting on manager Graham Potter, there is a feeling that his performance in the UCL could determine, to a large extent, how long he will last in Stamford Bridge this season.

However, the manager has a good European record as he won his first four UCL games and could become the first English manager to win five consecutive UCL matches.  

However, overall, Chelsea’s record in the UCL round-of-16 remains patchy, as they have progressed from this stage of the competition just twice in their last six attempts.

Newcastle targeting Alphonso Davies

Premier League top four hopefuls Newcastle United want to sign Bayern Munich and Canada defender Alphonso Davies next season.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs in his exclusive column for CaughtOffside, the Magpies’ sporting director Dan Ashworth recognises Davies as the ideal profile for the club’s left-back position and will attempt to sign him next season.

Davies is Bayern’s number-one left-back and will not come cheap. The 22-year-old has made 26 appearances for Bayern in all competitions this season, scoring two goals and providing six assists.

He is valued at €70.00m, meaning that Newcastle will have to break their transfer record to land him. However, given their wealth under Saudi owners, the Magpies can easily afford the player and still not break FFP rules.

It’s the top-of-the-table clash in the Premier League this Wednesday as league leaders Arsenal take on defending champions Manchester City.

The Gunners come into this tie just three points ahead of City with a game in hand, so there is a chance that Pep Guardiola’s side will overtake them here if they drop points. That makes this tie a must-win for Mikel Arteta’s title chasers.

However, they come into this tie in dire form, having not won in three competitive games (D1, L2). Although their last game saw a VAR error. Arteta will hope the conditions are okay in this game as he attempts to beat his mentor.

Guardiola is the only manager Arteta has failed to beat in the PL  (L5), and City have also emerged victorious the last ten times these clubs have faced each other in this competition. So, the Catalan coach will feel confident here.

Yet his team’s run of three losses in the last seven games (W4) shows that things can go wrong for them if they lose focus.

With three clean sheets in the last five meetings between both sides, we can expect a low-scoring affair when both teams meet. However, given the league position of both teams and the magnitude of this game, we can expect a cagey affair. So a bet of under 2.5 goals could be the best prediction for this game.
